Thoughts?
I've been decidedly unimpressed so far
Early days do you reckon?
I just hope he finds his feet soon

I feel bad that he's come in during a bloody tough run of games and not had time to gel.
To me he's looked overawed trying to protect us against teams that dominate possession. Not surprising that.
He's not been as bad as people think in my eyes. Room for improvement would be my score.

De Jong, Barry and even Yaya and Silva were all underwhelming when they initially signed, so i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at the moment. Clearly got good technique, but yet to stamp any authority on a game. Fingers crossed he will soon.

The inevitable comparison is with De Jong, who looked equally out of his depth in his first few games. Most players take a while to get used to how they are supposed to play in a new team. He's not playing any worse than Nastasic, who is getting less stick, so lets give the lad some time.

Great against Stoke but other than that i have to say i have been left wondering.
As far as i can make out so far he seems to be drifting about without getting that involved in proceedings.
Of course it's very early days and would be foolish to judge him or have a proper gauge at this stage of how good he actually is.

Painfully slow and for a big guy, remarkably not physical enough for me and doesnt use his size to his advantage.
Hasnt dispalyed any range of passing bar a 5-10 yard square ball though has looked capable in the air. I think the pace of the Premier League has probably come as a shock to him and there's plenty of time for him to find his feet - sadly, we dont have that time.

Thought he was supposed to be a no nonsense tackler who can play

Three times yesterday he attempted a simple crossfield ball that went out of play every time. He offers fuck all going forward and looks slower than world cup Barry.
But he looks nice, saw him doing his hair when he came off injured.

He's doing hardly any tackling of any importance but when we played a pressing game at Fulham, he kept the midfield together pretty well as both Barry & Yaya were attacking together at times & leaving him as the main player to protect the defence.
Comparisons with Nige in games like last night are misleading, as all of Mancini's European lineups have left the team full of holes & seen Nige struggling badly. Last season Nige had a much better defence behind him when he got caught out, which was a fair bit.
As a team we are not organised this season, so Garcia, Rodwell & Nasty need to be judged when they get the chance to come into a team that is playing well, rather than the utter shambles we are watching at the moment. It must be difficult for all of them to play with confidence amongst this mess.

Those crying out for de Jong should've watched his shambolic performance yesterday against Zenit. It was nigh on comical at times.
We all know he can do better, but he's settling into a new team which is a fair bit unorganised at the moment. Same goes for Garcia, Rodwell, Nastasic and so on...

I saw most of it & he looked poor, very poor indeed.

Garcia (and most of our defense) has a shocking lack of mobility, which has been ruthlessly exposed this season.
As an aside, much to my surprise, Javi Martinez has been mostly excellent for Bayern. :(

Their result was worse than either of ours.

Until he ducks out of a header he's favourite for in a derby match like Nige, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
