Don't give up on Garcia yet. Give the lad a chance to settle.

I agree.

He is a player we (& the rags), have been watching for a long time. He is no mug. Just a matter of whether he can adapt to the Prem or not. Being thrown into a Chumps Lg game after injury & barely having played for the club, is not a fair way to judge him.

Wanayama looks a strong lad. Whether he can play in a passing side, I don't know.

20 mill plus for a 30 yr old in De Rossi seems crazy when we offering similar package for Martinez.

If Martinez is worth £20 mil then DeRossi is worth 150 imo.

Maybe sign Pep Guardiola, he was a defensive midfielder, and Martinez has what 10 yrs on De Rossi, who looks 150, all joking aside does De Rossi look good for 3/4/5 yrs he looks goosed.

If he has an injury or fitness problem then of course all bets are off but I'd just heard he was being played out of position & generally unhappy, but haven't really been watching him since the summer, as I thought we'd blown the chance of signing him, so if his legs have gone due to injury then fair enough. Age wise, a player like him should go for another 5 years if the training is right.

Garcia to me has got the basics to be a top player, but we can see already that he doesn't impose himself the way DeRossi does. If he could learn from someone like that, it could change very very quickly.

I was more the look of De Rossi, he is draft pick for the Urine test mate, he looks older than 29 closer to 36, he is not for me and I hope I am wrong not gonna be for our new masters, which might be tantrum time. Martinez will develop and I agree needs maturing but wish we had him.

Martinez looked older than DeRossi in quite a few of the games I saw him play, dreadfully behind the pace.

Imo, it's purely the fact that he's 9 ft tall & an average footballer as opposed to 9 ft tall and shite,( like most 9ft tall players are). Basically, if he wasn't 9ft tall, I don't think anyone would have ever noticed him as a footballer.

I thought we talking about Martinez not Garcia, Martinez has the pedigree Ted all the way through the Spanish System and double figures for Spain in an era where to get into the Squad alone is some doing. De Rossi is a gamble mate he knows nothing about the Prem and when he has been here I never though wow, Now Marinez last year at the swamp and the interest from us RM Barca and Bayern would suggest he has something. De Rossi to Madrid or Barca ? Garcia is a good player, who TBF has had a tough late start, in a team which is mis-firing and changibg week in week out. All about opinions Ted , I just think De Rossi to long in the tooth and never worth the dough they want, we will see what Tricky thinks.

Martinez does have something, height. Most average midfield players are 5ft 9. He is decent on the ball & a giraffe. That gives him an advantage over DeJong for example. You could easily see that, rightly or wrongly, Mancini would have played Martinez in the games when he has played Nastasic if City had signed him. His size makes him an asset for the squad.

Ability wise either as a footballer or a defender though, he is average. Also lacks pace & stamina for a midfield player, embarrassingly so at times, when things go pear shaped.

PS, if DeRossi is fucked then I don't want him. I'm only interested if he's fit to last for a few years.

Rossi is never ever 20 mill Ted, and I fail to see us sanctioning it, RVP yes goals win games another midfielder at top dollar with a long winter ahead of him no time to settle in not for me mate.IMHO this will be toys out if he does not get him though, I will concede this his strike in the 1-7 at the swamp was class. He is very good you are bob on but 30 no sorry we would be stuck with him and worth 0.

Martinez is a fraud. Bayern fans are already in doubt, wondering why they paid 40m euros for a tackling donkey, when they have Gustavo who currently looks a better player in all departments. Sure, he may need some time to settle, but the worrying thing is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of game-changing potential. Certainly none to warrant the price. Played a Cup-game as a CB & looked dreadful, too.

I agree with Ted on this one. He looked dominant in the U21 Spain side, because of his physique. Captained it, won the tournament, cool head, kept it mostly simple passing wise & bullied the other kids. Add his Spanishness & it's guaranteed people will go nuts over an otherwise average player.

Del Bosque seems to think you are wrong, lets see in 12 months how he is Bayern is no easy move after the comforts of Bilbao, De Rossi for me not got the legs of Keane, who some think he will be like. More to the point does our new Sporting Director share the enthuisasm for him ! at 25 mill plus 3 yrs at 5 mill a year, that will be interesting, we are doubting Jack and Javi, so we will see.
