When will enough be enough?

Postby Invisible Man Fan » Wed Oct 24, 2012 9:56 pm

Sheikh Mansour has expressed via Khaldoon that our aim is to win the Champions League.

With Mancini at the helm that, in my opinion, will never happen.

This isn't a Mancini-out post by any stretch and I admire his tactical awareness in the Prem, but his European prowess is lacking.

He struggled at Inter and he is struggling here. We have the players to destroy most teams on the planet, but so far we haven't.

Last year, we were very unlucky not to progress out of the group, but even then we were in no way convincing.

Unless he takes some advice from a proven Champions League manager and changes his approach it will be a matter of time before a replacement is sought by the owners

That's misleading mate. Khaldoon has stated that the ultimate aim is to win the CL but our priority at the moment is to challenge for the PL.

It's a long term plan, which I like.

I get that it is a 10 year plan, but Bobby has just signed a 5 year deal (i think, unless i imagined that) and I dont believe Khaldoon and Mansour will be happy if we are still struggling in 3 or 4 years time.

I know that Silva/Garcia etc would have made a difference but I simply have no faith in Mancini in Europe

When will enough be enough? Failure to retain title this season? Who knows.

I may want to debate Mancini's decisions but I don't want the fucker out. Managers should always be given time and time as proved that Mancini can deliver.

Europe, for me, is not a priority for Mancini and I can only conclude that this is part of the plan.

I agree, so long as we keep progressing, he will have no problems.

My, serious, guess would be next year. Should we qualify for next years CL, if we end up going out so limply again the clock would start ticking.

Probably this. As long as he learns. HE was the knee-jerk tonight. We were comfortable just before half-time, a lapse of concentration meant a very different teamtalk.
Came out fighting and ready to rip into them second half, lost a goal to a set-piece (have to agree with chuckle et al. zonal marking NONONONO..) and then he panics for some reason. No city fan did. We have become masters at coming from behind and fully expected to level and go on and win, bring Tevez on at 70/75. But he changes tactics, formation and personnel immediately and there is no disguising this monumental fukup. Can't be arsed with any more postmortem so i'll just re-iterate, as long as he learns and improves, i'm behind him. This is the man who won us the FA CUP and the Premier League - he has a very, very long rope.
City have soul. United do not.

I didn't get to see the game last night because of computer issues (wasn't on telly here). But all I will say is that I'm absolute gutted about the result but even talk of sacking current title holding manager is nothing, I mean NOTHING, short of ridiculous.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Find a copy of the game, watch it and then see how ridiculous it is. He lost the plot last night. At 2-1 down, Steve Kean would have done a better job. That's how bad it became.

Not saying he should go, but he clearly has no idea how to play in Europe. The worrying thing is he's always struggled and shows no sign of improving. Sooner or later, we are going to want to make an impression on Europe and at that point, he's in trouble.

He has earned with his results overall for us a proper chance to get it right though.

i'll be more than happy to retain the title this year and nothing more. We're still not out of the Champions League but I have to say (Mancini's over-complicating of things aside) that if we were in any other group we'd get through. Still depressed after last night, all the same.

If we dont win anything this year then i think it could be curtains for him then. After the disgrace in the CL again i hope we go all out for the league AND/or the europa or fa cup

if he goes its his own fault for being a complete fucking dope in the CL. Im still so angry about it haha!

Nonsense. You do not sack a manager who has won two trophies for us because he hasn't won anthing for a season, we are not Chelsea. Our owners are more sensible than that, hence the 5 year contract for Mancini. Yes we would like to do better in Europe but it is not the end of the world. We are the current league title holders, we are 3rd in the lge, only 4 points off the top from Chelsea, by the end of this weekend that lead could even be less and Chelsea are supposedly sweeping everyone before them.

Mancini has done so many good things for this club, brought success, improved players, built a system that saw us end 35 years of hurt for a trophy, 44 years for a league.

The last few games we've been sussed.
If you watch the opposition the gang players on there right hand side attacking our left because they know our left midfielder never tracks back to defend and it's always 2 v 1 against clichy or whoever plays.
Which leads me to think that why doesn't Kolorov get a left midfield role?
He's clearly a shit left back, would be a good winger though but we never play him there.
He brought Kolorov on and put him LEFT BACK then moved Clichy to RIGHT BACK even though we had Micha playing.
Shambolic decisions.
