Kolarov

Just a thought; Is it just me or do we seem to create more chances when he's putting in his crosses? We also seem to have more width in our game when he plays, something we lack dearly. I agree Clichy is a better left back, but he is right footed so crossing from the left is not natural for him. And as many have mentioned he has had no cover lately, so what if Kolarov was played infront of him as a winger type?

I love Kola. My favourite City player by far.

recently, when kolarov has played it has been exactly as you described, with him operating more as a winger or wide midfielder ... not that he helps cover clichey all that much though.

I do agree that we look like a much more dangerous team with him on, his crossing is excellent, every time with power and movement. Hope he starts playing more ... never hurts to have him taking fk's either.

The down side is that he is not the quickest on the field, but I think that the danger from his crossing can make up for that.

We have to change something up, it's worth a try imo.

We tried against Swansea and it didn't work at all.

That's an interesting comment, Ted, coming from someone who claims his favourite player is a certain Mr Savic.

Not really sure what to make of Kolarov. As a player he delivers joy and frustration in equal measures for me.

His ability from set pieces is fantastic and he can be very good getting forward, he is useful outlet on the left.On the other hand his defensive ability leaves a lot to be desired, at times best described as clueless. If he could improve his defending he would be a brilliant player.

That's why I was thinking more of a winger type role, because at left back he is a liabilty sometimes. It's just that nearly everytime he puts a low cross in from the edge of the box, we always have someone there to put it in. It just gets frustrating watching everyone trying to pass it through the middle and walk the ball into the net. This is just another option that seems to work when we struggle to tear through the middle (which seems like every game to me lately).

He loves to attack and is pretty good at but whenever he is given the midfield wide role it seems to fail. The problem being that when he starts in a forward role he is marked and he can't handle being marked but when he breaks from deep he has good quality.

I take it you don't go to the games or watch them... As stated above, he was tried as a winger against Swansea and was gash!!!!!!! Got brought off at half time! He's an impact player when we are dominating games but can't find a way through!.

To be fair to Kola, half way through that first half he was pushed over to the right wing.

Kolarov is a left mid all day long and the best crosser at the club by a mile.

Mancini is, sadly, a tactical muppet at times and seems to always try to play left footers on the right. I get that it enables the player to cut in and shoot but with Kolarov (and AJ too when he was here) I feel it is best to employ them in areas where they can cross.

Let the strikers score, I mean Edin will thrive with the right service, why not give it him, Kolarov can do that.

It was the last 15 of the first half and we threatened a couple of times when the switch with Nasri was made, although he was more our of his depth on that side than the left.

I remember someone passed the ball to him and he tried to control it with his right foot and it went out for a throw. He was barely seen when he moved over to the right.

Everyone played crap that first half, not just Kola.

Yeah if we had a kolarov on the right as well. Stuck dzeko in the box and put crosses in we wouldn't draw with shit like west ham.

Someone should email city and tell them about this revolutionary way of playing football. Then we won't have to run into 10 defenders over and over for 90 minutes ever again.

Kolarov's a moody twat, after a match once I saw him and nastasic asked for a photo with them both, there was know one around and they weren't in a hurry, while my girlfriend took the photo he angrily said 'come on hurry up' then about 3 kids ran up to them for autographs and they both turned their backs and ignored them whilst probably pretending to be on their phones! The amount theses players get paid they owe it to fans to have photos and sign autographs! But it seems most modern day players let it all go to their heads and lose sight of what matters!

Kolarov is usually involved as a sub when we're switching to a more direct style of play with some fast breaks down the flanks, which I hope we use more of this season instead of leaving it until the last 20 minutes or so. I'm surprised we haven't considering Silva has been out injured for a while.

Can anyone recall ever seeing him beat a player? One of the fundamental requirements of an orthodox winger. He'd be great as a winger if he could do that.
