Balotelli then.

I criticised him last season for certain things he did in one particular game, & dared to suggest that it was stuff he needed to work on or fail, & was subject to an outcry by (sometimes reasonable discussion) but often utter fucking, clueless, cheerleading, fucking cretins, attributing motives to my honest opinion of the bloke, as if I was judging him by some kind of anti-Mario bias & totally failling to have any kind of rational opinion. I don't mind any kind of disagreement, but people, wrongly attributing my motives for an honest opinion, does my fucking head in.

Well here's another one; Mario, 1st half, did pretty much everything I have been asking of a big striker to do in a partnership & Aguero was fucking clueless, greedy & generally played at a sub standard level whilst alongside, thus made Mario look a twat, for giving him the ball & expecting a similar response. This won't be the general opinion of media, football experts etc, because Mario tried a backheel 2nd half that didn't come off & therefore is just a cunt, but I don't fucking care, I want to be on record saying: I recon he did well.

Tevez came on & was better than both, & also had the advantage that Aguero actually wanted to try to pass to him as soon as possible.

I don't give a fuck whether Balotelli lasts through the transfer window, in fact I think it's probably best he doesn't & Ican understand kneejerk reactions from fans after this disappointment, however, I find Mancini's public slagging of the bloke, utterly disrepuatable & I think, once again, that it is n example of Mancini hanging a colleague to protect his own arse.

Great manager, to a point. Utter self centered, Machiavellian, arsehole of a bloke.

Balotelli is not being helped by him, he needs to get away from him.

We should do whatever it takes to get Falcao . That surely means selling Balotelli. I still think Mancini should have started with Tevez because the only two forwards who remotely play together are Aguero and Tevez. Still Mancin did start with Balotelli in a really big match which hardly suggests he's biased against him.

Who would actaully take Balotelli and who could afford him? Why would any top club put up with him when he continues to deliver very little.

I honestly see him ending up in Russia or something. A complete waste of a wonderful talent.

We all know that DDR will be his major target. The problem is we don't know if we will bring anyone considering that Bobby might leave in the summer.

Mario was ok today, Tevez was better. I think Mario missed Milner. He had to come back deep in our half to get the ball, so without any good service, he couldn't do more.

Balotelli is not that good. Best penalty taker I have ever seen. Everything else is gash. I'd sell him tomorrow but would there be any takers?

Agree.

It's becoming clear that reputations carry more weight than reality and prominent players are typecast by the media, (And we know who they favour) and the bias flows through into games, and specifically the way incidents are either highlighted or ignored.

Today I also thought Mario was far superior to Aguero in the time he was on. But, as Mario is a bad guy anything positive he does is ignored & any negatives are eagerly seized upon. Aguero can be utterly dogshit and will still receive media praise because it fits in with the narrative, he`s a good guy..... I`m amazed Mancini cant see this with Mario & use him accordingly.

Referees are subject to this the same way everyone else is & the big teams (rags, real etc) simply tailor their play to the referee. This was really confirmed in CL v Real when they just chucked themselves about after going a man down. I dont think we are wise to this in Europe as yet. I thought Mario did well when he came on v Dortmund, but the treatment he was subjected to by the ref (serbian) was far from balanced

I'm sad for Mario as I think he`ll be forced out & I really dont know where he can go and start with a clean slate, but his card seems very clearly marked. I hoped Mancini was playing some form of long game with him, but i'm really not sure what that is & on todays evidence it would seem that this 'media image' is affecting his own judgement.

This.

And no. No manager in their right mind would take him. He's always said Bob is like a father figure, and if he cant even get fuck all out of him, what hope does anyone else have?

Get rid of him and replace him with someone (even a 'lesser talent') who is going to battle for the sky blue shirt.

He's still got some value in Italy on the back of his Euro performances, we need to cash in quickly though.

Mario was using his brain & Aguero's took 2 seconds later to function. By that time, on the rare occasion that Aguero actually realised Mario was on the pitch, he was by then offside or marked.

When Tevez comes on, it's all so much simpler for Serge; give it to Tevez.

Balo has done fuck all this season and Aguero hasn't been up to scratch either.

The difference is tho Aguero has one player he can play with, Balo pisses off everyone and is a liability to boot.

I got shouted down by many for asking if they'd take 30 mil just a month or two ago. He's shaved a good 5-10 off his price so far this season, how low should we let his value go before we get shut?

I think the tactics worked against him today, more than anything. We played with two out and out strikers and couldn't get them any service, as we were out numbered in midfield, as they had shrek playing in there and we had Yaya who did very little, as has been the case all season. Mario had a reasonable game for Mario, although it wasn't really enough.

Mancini gave them the midfield and we never really coped. When Tevez came on, his energy put their defence under more pressure and he also dropped into midfield to get the ball. Why he didn't start with the pair of them, I've no idea.

But I just don't see what Mario really brings to the table anymore, penalties aside. I've tried to be patient and believe there is a great player inside him, but due to his own petulance and referees opinions of him, he'll never make it in England. In terms of holding the ball up for Aguero and giving stick to centre halves, a Carroll or even a Grant Holt type would do a better job. He rarely uses his pace to frighten defenders and push them back and he doesn't get onto the end of tap ins. There are numerous forwards out there who could offer us more in terms of goals, chances for team mates and all round play than Mario does.

Sell him in January, see if Guidetti can get some games in the run in and make a decision on what we need for next season in summer.

Thats the point. Mario cant do right for doing wrong. Aguero gets away with being shit, when he is, because everyones loves him (self included),so they look to blame someone else. Mario is not afforded the same slack - by his own fans, as thats how powerful the media is.

I thought it a no brainer to start tevez & aguero today, but it sounds as though Mario was good in training this week (Doug`s comments), and given his performance at swamp last year then fair enough. But if this bias is trickling through his own team mates then what chance has the lad got?

Totally agree with the OP. Balotelli was doing ok, just wasn't being used or trusted or even seen by his team mates. Unless it changes now, he will have to leave. It's a shame because with support and trust on the pitch he would be our best all round striker due to his pace, height and all round skill.

Aguero is fucking gash at the moment and has been nothing like as good as he was since last March, despite winning us the league.

I agree about you're entire post and wanted to post as much. At the time I wondered if Mancini subbed Balotelli in order to protect his own ass. I'm glad... or sad... to see that a person like yourself, that knows a bit about this game, saw what I saw. At least it makes me feel less of a misanthropist.
