Our Defenders

Much has been said about our defence by the media mafia this season ....
After watching City defend so well today at Newcastle with a so called makeshift defence it is plainly obvious to me we have an abundance of top top quality defenders all willing to give 100% to our cause ...... Kolo was again excellent today and Lescott reminded bobby manc what a class act he is , just shows what shite the media mafia have been spouting off about us all season.
Thoughts anyone ......

thought we defended well today, apart from aguero not getting out for their goal which kept ba onside, all they did was lump longballs up to him and cisse.

We did ok but were all at sea at times but it's never easy to handle the long ball when there isn't a decisive header of the ball in there.Toure and Nasti tried manfully but are not best equipped for that sort of challenge and then Lescott came on and showed what it's all about.
I still didn't think our midfield were quite on the ball in their defensive roles. Yaya did play well and Garcia probably had his best game so far but a win is a win and that's a big one.

It wasn't Aguero's fault that they scored, it was the dozy cunts in the centre, assuming everybody was coming out without even bothering to check.
If today's defending was good, I'm Prince fucking Charles. It was an absolute shambles from start to finish.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. Some people look at all the last ditch efforts from our back line & all the saves Hart had to make today & think "great defensive effort". I think "bollox, why did we consistently get into these positions in the first place".
Kudos for trying (including the likes of Silva & even Nasri) & riding it out, but a composed, solid defensive effort is sth else entirely.

Silva did some great stuff today when we lost the ball. Good point. Respect to him for his efforts.

Knew if I came on would be less than 2 minutes before some cunt was complaining...

Newcastle have plenty of height in their team , second half in particular they were playing for free kicks to knock long balls in feed off the second ball etc etc , noisy noisy crowd at toon aswell , i thought our makeshift defence stood up well to that shit although it was always going to get a bit messy from time time . Zabba and Clichy were also looking to set up the counter when the ball whilst not in the "air" lol fell to us. As has been already said Lescott,s ability and influence calmed things down very well near the end . For me and only my opinion it shows we have the depth to cope with these situations like todays tricky fixture .

Fair enough but I'd be more worried if you agreed with me.
The value of your opinion on football is right up with that of a 14 year old, brain dead California fucking cheerleader.
I bet you used to wag all sports anyway, you fat cunt.

Lescott and Richards attack the ball with strength best for City with Kompany not far behind. Any defence is about balance and injuries have unsettled our options. Equally important is getting back, closing down and winning second ball which has been our real weakness in defence. Newcastle played route 1 and we coped.
OK we let in a goal and were under pressure in the second half but we won away 3-1 and played some fabulous football. Newcastle and their fans were really up for it today. We were on a hiding to nothing but seem to finally have lost the complacency we have shown at times this season.

The best teams defend as a team so I still get confused when I see us having to defend but see the likes of Silva,Dzeko,Aguero and possibly Yaya and even Nasri if he is on drifting back from an attacking position. We end up defending with 5 or 6 real defenders plus Joe.It was happening today and it was the same in the Real Madrid game
The same situation with most other teams would be a minimum of 2 banks of 4 and often all 11 would be back. Seems we just don't do that.

Ah you are from the "you have to be able to play the game at shit level to understand it at top level" school. Wasn't much of a footballer no, was much better at tennis. But hey, I can't play a musical instrument but I know Berlioz kicks Holzt's arse. I can't ride a horse butt I make two thirds of my living from betting on them.
Knowledge of football? Who was the person on this forum fighting a virtually loan furrow saying Barton was vastly overrated and also that he would eventually embarrass the club? Who was it saying we were mad to prefer Given over Hart? Who was it that was advocating Mancini as a better bet than Hughes? Who was it that first saw the dangers of FFP and was defending the inevitable decisions of the owners in relation to Hughes and transfer policy? Was it you? Was it fuck! Again and again I've been in tiny minorities on issues that are proven right. Meanwhile you remain a reactionary cunt and a backward one at that. Between you, picc the dick, that welsh moron that thinks he's bosnian, the doom squad and a handful of other cretins, you have ruined this site. Well fucking done arsehole.

No, I don't think you need to have played football in order to understand it.
I just thought it was probably true in your case, as you are a typical pompous fat cunt.
If I've spoliled things for you, I am deeply sorry.

shocking defending could have been 2 - 0 down after 6 minutes, Newcastle had chance after chance.

he is fucking right though.
you'd hardly call what i saw today as stalwart defending, would you?
if this match had ended 3-3 it wouldn't have been shocking.
cheers, now go crawl back in your hole fuckface.
cheers again

Who ate all the fucking pies cos it 100% wasnt Ted.
Back on topic , I thought the defence were average at best , Kompany is obviously missed and those high balls were a problem for us , if it wasnt for HART this game could easily have been 3 -3.
Zabaleta got us out of the shit more than anyone else.

garbage. They didn't have chance after chance on that first half. on chances it would have been 6.2 I would reckon.
We weren't great at the back but the rest of our game far outweighed it

We defended ok. It's probably true that on another day, against better opposition, we would've been punished but then I don't think we'd play like this against better opposition.
Great to have royalty on the board. One ingredient we've missed so far.
