Training Friday 28/12

For the last time this year I ventured to Carrington. It really is getting muddy and not helped by the bikes rolling round churning the ground up. Razak the first out and all on his tod for quite a while but in the end there were 18 on show for what was a fairly routine and short session. Both Clichy and Nasri were fully involved but no Mario although he was working inside.Rekik and Razak were the 2 from the "reserves" so sadly no Guidetti today.( I hope he is ok)

Mancini got them all together for the initial briefing and it was quite a long one.No prizes for guessing what it would have been all about. Some jogging and exercises before he took a team away for some standard work. And,as he usually does, he switched the personnel around as well as the system. The focus was on passing and general movement and attacking play.

Back across and after a few exercises it was into a game of 10 a side on half a pitch with one of the key players sitting it out.Didn't look a problem but I think just safety first.Quite a competitive game and a short one too.Just two goals which clearly gives away are plans for the Naaaaarch game as the scorers were Lescott and Vinnie. Both after good saves from the keeper but they were on hand to nudge in the rebound. The first a thunderbolt from Tevez from about 10 yards and the 2nd a point blank effort from Edin deflected across.

Overall a gentle session which is no surprise amidst the run of games we are in.It didn't stop good effort and energy from the majority although maybe not all quite fully at it.There was definitely some ooomph going into the keeper session though as I could hear Massimo's booming voice from the keeper work.

Cheers Doug. I take it they would've boarded the coach after training, is that the usual score?

What a grizz that is, probably just short of 7 hours by coach. I remember going down there on old clapped out coaches (something out of 'Carry On The Buses'), with the crates of beer in the boot, when I was, let's say, 'Younger'. Nothing like what they've got now though, those luxury coaches are something else.

Not sure it's coach all the way, that doesn't sound right.Usually it's train to London games so maybe it's the same for Naaaaarch or maybe they will fly direct to N.

i don't understand why you wouldn't fly nearly everywhere that's more than an hour journey? we've got a sackful of loot, surely getting the players there the fastest, most comfy way ought to be a top top priority of the club.

You're right Doug, they go from Stockport or Macclesfield I think; still a good 5 hours though. I suppose I was just recollecting the good old days, I'm sure we used to do quite well down there.

Cheeky fecker! They always seemed to be old geezerz (I was in my youth then, 8-13ish) and I was actually wondered what your occupation was prior to taking over the streets ;-)

Are you telling me they don't stop at the services for Burger King and a piss up the side of the bus? What about the smoke breaks?
