Manchester Piccadilly to Etihad Stadium

Postby AG7 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 3:20 pm

What is the best way to get to Etihad Stadium from Manchester Piccadilly? And then return after the game as well.
Sorry, I normally drive up there directly for the games but this weekend am taking a train.

Walk? How log does it take?
Any public transport. Is that Metrolink working now?
Google is saying to take a train to Ashburys station first and then walk from there? Is that the best?

it's less than 10 quid in a cab i'm pretty sure. i'm a diva and i took a cab last month during my visit. Seemed easiest and i was anxious to get there since i only get over about once a year if i am lucky.

I'm sure you could:

Walk
Jog
Get a few buses
Hitch a ride
etc

cheers

I would go for a taxi there and a walk back, since it can be a bitch finding a taxi after the game. The walk takes about 20 minutes.

Walk down to Piccadilly Gardens mate and get a 216/217 bus (loads of them available). Or if you're feeling healthy - walk.

My advice would be .....

Forget going to Ashburys as the Etihad is a good 15 minute walk from there .

Taxi from Piccadilly to right outside the Etihad no more than 4 quid and its only a 20 minute walk anyway.

Millions of buses behind the south stand after the match , jobs a good un !

Wouldn't bother with the Ashbury's thing, it's about ten minutes walk from there, and about twenty minutes walk from Picadilly. I always walk it.

Edit: Sorry City64, didn't see your post, I must walk a bit faster than you, lets go for twelve and a half. (-:

It's a 5 min bus ride or a 15 minute walk. I live whine the train station and on match days you always see city fans walking there. No need to get a train or metro from Piccadily. Walking is he best bet.

If you got a taxi from Piccadilly there will be other city fans you can share with and split it between all of you. It's only a 20 minute walk along the canal if you fancy that. Don't get a bus though because the queues are massive

Taxi from Picc Station is about £6.50 now.
Bus from opposite Wetherspoons in Piccadilly Gardens £1.50
Walk is TWENTY FIVE mins, don't believe that other nonsense.
We always share a cab there, walk back after.

Wouldn't the top bit depend on Manchester city centre taxi drivers being white Salford lads or even Manc? That is something they are not though lol.
