I just read via the news agregator an article published today about Sunderland's home match versus City ladies' team which had to be abandoned due to injury to the City keeper. If Sister of Fu is still keeping goal for City ladies, then get well soon and I hope it's not as serious as it sounds:

http://www.safc.com/news/club-news/2013 ... -abandoned

Injury mars Ladies return to action.

Sunderland Ladies were back in action after the Christmas break to face a strong Manchester City Ladies at the Hetton Centre on Sunday.

In an entertaining game played at a furious pace Sunderland dominated from the start but found themselves a goal down following a rare City breakaway mid way through the first half.

The second period continued in a similar manner with the Lady Black Cats laying siege to the Manchester goal before the visiting keeper suffered a serious knee injury with 10 minutes remaining.

A long delay followed and such was the seriousness of the situation that the game was abandoned to be replayed at a later date.

The home side set their stall out from the off and soon had City on the back foot with Bannon, Furness and Mead combining to set up Ramshaw who crashed a header crashed against the bar.

Greenwell, Gutteridge and McDougall had all gone close when out of the blue the visitors grabbed the lead with their first meaningful attack in the 28th minute.

Up until this point Laws had been a virtual spectator in the Sunderland goal but a quick break caught the home defence short of numbers as the ball was swept across the face of the goal and Johnston poked it home at the far post.

Sunderland poured forward again and Ramshaw, Mead and Gutteridge were unlucky not to equalise as City held on to their lead at the break.

The second half continued in the same manner with the visitor’s goal bearing a charmed life throughout.

As shots rained in from Ramshaw, Mead, McDougall and Joice, City rarely managed to get out of their own half but their danger on the break was still a threat as they saw a rare effort come back off the bar before a timely tackle from Salicki averted any real danger from former Sunderland striker Danby.

Further attempts from Williams and Ramshaw went close and it seemed only a matter of time before an equaliser would arrive when the City keeper stayed down as she challenged Holmes for a loose ball.

The visiting stopper was in obvious distress and after medical attention at the scene an ambulance was called.

Unfortunately after a delay of well over half an hour the referee had no alternative but to abandon the game.

After a bit more digging, it was Danielle Brown who was injured. Here's hoping she recovers asap.

I doubt it was Sis in the City goal....

She transferred to Liverpool Ladies (treacherous bitch) some time ago and decided that she was far too old to stand about in the cold weather.
Liverpool told her that their kit budget just could not afford to finance her need for support tights, nor were they willing to accept her wanting to wear a beige mac in goal on rainy days. The final blow was her insistence on keeping a tartan shopping trolley behind the posts and constantly playing bingo on her laptop during the game.
She has now retired from football (though nobody actually noticed) and resides in an old folks retirement bungalow somewhere in the North of England. She spends her days drinking Ovaltine, watching Jeremy Kyle and eating chocolates.

Sad innit.

Its not me, it’s not me......haha thanks for the thread though.

She was the victim of a nasty tackle and has been lucky not to suffer a break. There could be ligament damage though. The girls were 6 mins away from a famous 1-0 over Sunderland who are unbeaten for over 20 months at home in the league. The ref abandoned the game even though the City girls pleaded with him to let them play on with 10 men. Its looking like a replay and anther long journey back to Sunderland.

I have offered to come out of retirement to help if her injury is long term.

It didn't wake me up. She eats nails for brekkers and peanut butter m&ms just to show us her delicate ladylike side.

Shit.... no news then!

For a while I was encouraged to dream of a hyper-muscled Prince Charming, knocking at Her retirement cottage on the amazing north, attempting to change her negative attitude towards hiding sausages.

actually, i'm hopeful that you don't learn.

You are like a nubile teenager who we can break in and i'd hate to see you actually learn how to master this language or we will never get gems like the above mentioned one.
