and then as you say there's the likes of:
Jo - 19 but worth more like 3
NDJ - good player but didnt we spend outrageous cash?
RSC - 17ish worth 2-3
kolarov - worth about half of what we payed

For any other club thats catastrophic

I think NDJ was about 16m or so when we signed him, mad money. Jo must be the biggest waste.
Dzeko, nasri, kolarov and many others not worth what we paid for them either.
Cavani can fuck off with his 50m buy out clause.

I don't think RSC can count towards the overpriced players as that deal was very, very fishy.

Take Out Mario, according to Inter's accounts we paid 22 million euros, the exchange rate at the time was around 0.82 so that was approx £18 million

Who's to say that Milner and Lescott weren't worth what we paid for them? They have been - and still are - very good players for us.

It wouldn't have been worth Sunderland or Villa paying that kind of money for them but they've made a vital difference for us.

I think the debate regarding if some player is worth something or not is pretty weird. I mean, go ahead and have it. But the idea that a player is a steal or a bargain when he costs 5 (or whatever we bought kompany for) million is absurd. 5 million pound for a person is an absurd amount of money.

I don't get the scale. Is there a scale or are we just applying some sort of common sense value to players worth more money than most of us will ever handle or can imagine having?

And I agree with ADTV, in the sense that a player is worth whatever we pay for him, as long as it's within our means and he performs for us.
