EDS v Bolton

A bit of Guidetti watch I suppose and of course he scored again.A superb header from an inviting cross from Greg Leigh the left back. But the answer to me is that he isn't ready yet, certainly for a full game but if we can afford to he could take a spot on the bench.
He was up against David Wheater ( was he really mentioned as an England prospect once?) and was largely dominated especially in the air but when that first real chance came he took it superbly with a strong header. Another headed chance a bit later he headed wide and the a decent chance late on from a snap shot went over.
How City didn't win the game I don't know.Well maybe I do.We went one down to a 20 yarder which went low and almost into the center of the goal and I don't think the striker hit it that well Unfortunately Lawlor the keeper just didn't get down to it as he was moving his feet over to get the angles right. The next goal was a horrible OG from Boyata when he sliced a nothing cross home.
Pozo was our main man tonight with 2 goals and oh so close to a hat trick. The first was a massive deflection as he aimed for the right corner and it went in the left. The 2nd was a sweet low left footer as a corner landed to his feet from a half clearance. He has a scoring knack. We dominated the ball a lot of the time but without a lot of penetration.I will be interested in other opinions but I though Huws and Evans did well with getting the ball and laying it off for much of the game but they both seriously lack any ideas re forward passing.
I suppose that's what it's all about when you have Suarez,Lopes and Pozo all coming to get the ball but I found it very frustrating and even then they both made some silly passes to give possession away.Boyata looked untroubled most of the time but the OG was a horror and he made 2 other terrible slips ups which could have cost a goal. Plummer likewise making to shocking mistakes.
We were 3.2 up and threatening a 4th with a few missed chances when they equalised. It was one of those when you almost want the guy to shoot as he is so far out and the next minute a screamer flicks the underside of the bar and goes on with Lawlor not even moving.

I think he is still 16 and a major talent. Only small and possibly could be compared to Aguero. Good first touch, moves really well with the ball very close, can go either way with the low center of gravity turns players very well, loves to shoot but seems to play with awareness of others, bounces off big guys.
You can tell I like him but if this lad doesn't make it I would be staggered. He is 16!!!!!!!!!

sounds like we could all be seeing him in action sooner rather than later then?
exciting stuff.
obviously you've got your eye on him already so do you think we could have a 'pozo watch' thread?

I'd expect next season he'd be getting some Carling cup games etc....definite pre-season squad addition too.

Just needs to carry on doing what he is doing.I was worried tonight when he was breaking away and some clogger just slashed him down.It looked horrendous but he just got up ,albeit gingerly, and got on with it.Seems to be able to deal with attempts to muscle him and bounce off. But to say we will see him in first team action soon might be pushing it a bit.

Forgot to mention,as well as David Wheater playing for Bolton they also had Stuart Holden. But not for long as a challenge by Evans saw him off. He was booked for it but my guess is it could have been a red.A real lunge at the ball( I think he went for the ball) but he got nowhere near it and took him out in full flight.
Also a good game again for Greg Leigh at left back. Solid defensively and a good assist for Guidetti's goal to go along with his call up for the England under 19's for next week.Congrats to him.

Was going to ask the same questions about Pozo. Everything I've seen of him , including vids of his play from pre City, he just looks sheer class; not just in ability, but like he actually knows how to play football, which is almost unheard of amongst City academy forwards.
I know he's only young & not especially big, but seeing as we're talking about an non match fit Guidetti being on the bench, why not Pozo if he is currently playing better ?
I would love to see him get a few mins in an FA Cup game, like Lopez did.

What do you think of Hiwula's chances Doug? Noticed he was featured on the citytv thingymajig. Be good to finally have a local lad make it with us again (was Nedum the last?)

I have liked what I saw from Hiwula as a goalscorer and it's a shame he got this injury (whatever it is) but I haven't really seen him beyond the under 18's where the real tests begin I think so it's hard to assess at what level he will make it. I think the runs he makes are good and seem to come naturally as does the goalscoring but....we will see!

That's like me but mine is down to age. Takes a while to get the old muscles up to speed ;-)
