Is Mancini on target or like his predecessor is he underperforming?

Two trophies in two years were wonderful, but now we are out of the Carling Cup, out of the Champions League and are playing absolutely toilet in the league, we are currently going backwards, Hughes was let go for lack of progression (and rightly so).

With this squad we should be walking it. We should have walked it last year but nearly cocked it up.

Once the pissed up cunt at the swamp departs it will be a cake walk for us !

It depends if they are looking for an excuse to sack him, as that's all it was with Hughes.

He is discussing players for next season so I don't see it.

United just doing extremely well this season. Since the first couple of months, they have barely fucked up. They've shown there traditional end of season form nearly all season long instead.

The only hope is an RVP injury or the Champs league severely distracting them in some of their trickier league games.

Have we really got the best squad? We certainly have some players that would walk into theirs but they have a few that would walk into ours as well.On paper we might just have a better 13 or so but maybe on form this season we probably don't

We should never expect to walk it.Such nonsense should be left to the arrogant swamp rats.It's takes a lot of hard work,consistency of performance and improvement.I think we have worked hard enough but lacked consistency and have definitely not improved on last year.And by that I am not referring to the squad but the performances and the tactical nouse needed as teams get wise to us.

They probably have usually finished well but of course we disproved that as a given last season.Maybe they won't finish well this season either if we can put pressure on them but they do have a decent cushion and would need to implode.

What the hell is the expected trajectory all about? You can't win more and more every year.There aren't enough trophies to do that.What we do want is to stay right at the top of English football and work our way to the top of European football.It looks like we are starting to achieve the first goal,1st or 2nd in my opinion as long as we are challenging for top spot but we have a long way to go on the Euro front.

Winning the FA cup would be great this season and a good 2nd at least.3 trophies plus the Community Shield is a good start and if we keep winning an average of a trophy a year I for one would be extremely happy.

Continued improvement on the way to becoming the best is expected trajectory imo. That doesn't neccessarily mean we will win everything but we should now be a bit better than we were last season, even with the same players.

This season looks like the trajectory is slightly backwards.

I can put up with that for one season but if we are talking the same this time next season I will be avidly calling for Mancini to be sacked.

i honestly think mancs jobs on the line he we win nowt this year, and whats even more making me think this way is we all know we had to add a couple of players in the window but money wasnt freed up for him to spend!!

I honestly don't think the FA cup will save him.

The only thing that will save him is for us to come out fighting between now and the end of the season and give the cunts down the road a proper fight

I would have thought that the big threat to Mancini's job has gone to Bayern. Unless HRH suddenly gets the urge to watch the Mourinho show every week. Hopefully Tricky etc will talk him out of that.

As for not spending money, we have just had a change of staff re player recruitment, letting the main people leave before the summer transfer window, so basically had nobody doing the job last summer & had no CEO either. We were spending £100s of millions per season, whilst the rules stated we can only use so many players in the squad. We were almost taking the piss out of ffp going into the 1st assessment period. Then Bob suddenly decides he wants 'five or six' players rather than the ' just one maybe two quality additions' Khaldoon said he expected. We still went out & got the numbers in & spent another £50 mil.

Now though we have most of the old Hughes deadwood gone or about to go & are just embarking on getting rid of Mancini's recent deadwood, so we should have space for a couple of real high quality players next summer.

I agree with him that we should have the best squad, why shouldn't we ?

But I also agree with Khaldoon that we should be signing younger players heading toward their peak rather than players peaking now & heading back down. Plus we have to assess what we have somewhere & make a plan, or we are just heading for a situation like we had with RSC & Adebayor, but much much worse. Even Real & Barca move players on. We have to do the same; we can't just stockpile loads of unused, huge money players whilst we sign others for huge money, like Bob wants to do.

The rumours that I've read suggest that the longterm plan is to have 4 or 5 superstars & the rest of the squad built from the academy (which will be trained in a basic 4-3-3 inspite of what Bob & some of his cheerleaders say; we are already doing it now it's on the OS as the stated academy system for young kids!)

I like that if it happens & in the longrun, it should hopefully make us immune to managers & their egoes, & like at Barca, they would just be custodians of the 1st team rather than dictators like Ferguson (& Bob tried to be).

I don't see how Mourinho would fit that at all.

The wild card is HRH though. If he suddenly decides ' Sod this, I want the Champions League NOW ' & thinks Mourinho will deliver it, the whole plan will have to continue in the background whilst the 1st team does its own thing.
