Joe Hart

We all know he has underperformed this season. Yesterday he was fuckin shit. Do people still think he shouldn't be dropped "cos that will dent his confidence", even though part of the reason he has been shit and isn't improving is due to the fact he is over-confident? Needs to remove his head from his arse and have a reality check imo

I didn't think he was shit. Made a cracking save to deny sturridge. Made a few clearance punches under pressure. Let two screamers by him. He hasn't been as good this season but he is getting a lot of shit considering yesterday was the first goal he conceded in 2013.

I agree he wasn't shit but there is no doubt he has not been at his best consistently this season.I don't think I would drop him but would have be having serious talks with him.

Yesterday was weird. He went for that early high ball which Sturridge took down well and got behind him. That was scarily bad judgement and we got away with it cos of Zaba.I thought he was ok to go for it but he HAS TO get the ball .He just looked slow and sloppy. Not sure about the first goal.It was low to his left again. Is that a genuine weakness or was it just a superbly struck shot.

Same with the 2nd goal. The opinion seems to be it was unstoppable but he seemed to go very late for me.Then the save at the end was superb. But there was also the Zaba back pass in the middle.I have to think that was Zaba's fault as I can be sure that Joe had shouted very very loud as he always does.

He's getting too complacent, But Like Nigel said not many better keepers out there. The problem of getting him competition for his place in the team. Who good enough would come, just to sit on the bench, Butland didn't.

This is how I see it.

He fucked up massively for the Zaba near-own goal. He should have had that ball before Zaba got anywhere near it. Whether he's going to come for it or not, he needs to CALL to his defenders and quickly. As a defender there is nothing worse than moving towards your own net under pressure and not knowing what the fuck your goalie is doing. Zaba clearly heard nothing and did the right thing in putting it out for a corner but he shouldn't have needed to.

This is related to my second point. He needs to stop punching and try catching for a change. It is not always as easy as it may appear to be but it is fucking great for defenders to know that you keeper will be coming and taking catches when you're under a bit of pressure.

Thirdly, his distribution and choice of target is still relatively poor. Putting the ball straight out of play from a goal-kick when you are under zero pressure is not acceptable and launching high balls at diddy Dave Silva is just fucking retarded.

I still think he is the real deal and of course all goalkeepers make mistakes, especially younger ones. But they need sorting.

This is his main problem for me. His distribution is terrible; far worse than your average League One keeper. He takes far too much time for a short pass/throw, and is too inaccurate with his long ball efforts. It's something he needs to work on desperately.

Cannot drop him but hes fuckign shit at ball distribution , Panti is 100% better than him at this and its a shame his overall game isnt as good as Joes otherwise hed be in.

Joe was shit slow for that second 40 yarder , slow as fuck to get to it...and when have we said that before?????
Anyway, waste of time talking about him as we he is not benchable right now.

And occassionally catch a ball rather than punch it out.

If that was Zaba putting it out for a corner then he needs to learn to do it much better than that

Hahaha agreed. That was clearly a back-pass. Why would he toepoke it towards his own near post as opposed to cunting it into row z of tier 2?

His confidence looked a little dented, particularly after Sturridge's screamer. Some of the balls he punched I would have thought he would normally have caught. VK missing and Liverpool playing some nice football didnt help.
He certainly needs to practise his distribution.
He needs a great game for England to restore his confidence.

Does he work on distribution in training, Doug?

If Pep had come he would have been under the "Needs to improve his footwork" bracket, he is still a young keeper, and to be fair he has had changes in front of him last few games. He sums us up this season a little hit and miss.

He needs to start catching the ball, surely if you are punching with double fists than you can open your hands and catch it?? Panti started a bit slow last week but was super in the air and caught everything and that was against a big physical Stoke team. Joe needs some serious competition at club and international level so that the high levels he has set himself continue. Been well below par this season but he is not alone..

Punched corners he should have caught, came out to Sturridge and got nowhere near and was caught in no mans land, didnt give Zaba a shout which nearly caused an OG, and should have kept out Sturridges goal which wasnt right in the corner either - he had no chance with Gerrards.

I think Joe's performance yesterday sapped the confidence of his defenders, as it was less than assured.

He has not been at his best at times this season, just like everyone else in the team, under-performing and lacking confidence and motivation. We are just not getting the best from lots of players, i wouldnt just single out hart, he is still the best around.
