Pre-match meet in Southampton...

Postby paul_oresteia » Tue Feb 05, 2013 7:23 pm

Hello blues.

I work at a pub in Southampton called The Cellar, where the owner is a blue, the chef is a blue, and some other staff members are indeed blues... To me that constitutes a City pub!

We're having a meet up before the game (2pm) if any of you guys going are up for a drink. We're all going to the game and have a lot of City mates so there's only one place to be. It's on the way to the stadium if any of you are coming down by train/coach. Be handy for any guys with spare tickets too. No touting, of course!

Address below if you're interested....

I was born in Southampton, my dad raised us as City fans. The owner of the pub is from Manchester, moved here at some point. We've just ended up meeting other fans in the area, going to games with them. There's an army port here so a lot of the guys my dad met in the army and they've all ended up settling in Southampton.

How come he brought you up as City fans (no prejudging going on)? Has Mick Channon anything to do with it?

Tis alright yeah...I like it. Might change my mind come 7.15 on Saturday though!

It's also my birthday, to spice things up even more. Far too convenient having City roll in to town on my birthday...

Thanks Paul - my train (from Reading) is due in at 1241 so I will make my way there - of course I can look it up on the net but as the stadium is not particularly far from Southampton Central then the pub must be quite close to the station/stadium?

As you walk up the hill from Soton Central, the Cellar is between the Guildhall & KFC. The stadium is a bit further on but the pub is nicely situated between both so don't have to go out of your way! I think we will be there very soon after your train gets in sir.

As you walk up the hill from the station, the pub is just there between the Guildhall & KFC. The stadium is a little further along but the pub is along the same route so no need to go out of your way! We will no doubt be in there shortly after your train gets in!

Will double check mate. We have some permits that will allow you to park outside for free. Otherwise parking is by the meters. Will get back to you ASAP. Just waiting for the owner to check who is using what permits.

It is mate, I was stationed in gosport for a short while and used to go for training down the road in Southampton - it was actually Royal corps of transport base - HMAV.
