Next: Leeds at Etihad - FA Cup

Postby AG7 » Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:42 am

I cannot bring myself to talk about what happened today (and enough being said in all other threads) so this is as good a time as any to start this next game thread ...

If we play anything like our last two games (prior to today, the QPR and Liverpool draws), Leeds will probably get a draw off us as well and take us back to theirs for a very tough repeat tie ... and if we play like today, well then it'll be bye bye FA Cup as well ...

Now this is what must happen in the week we have till next Sunday (apart from whoever needs looking in the mirror and manager's got to do what he's got to do) ...

Kompany and Nastasic should both return to the centre of our defense. Whatever Tevez's personal issue is, hopefully that's sorted within next 24-48 hours and he trains for the rest of the week and is back in the starting XI come Sunday. Nasri and Garcia should be fucked off to the stands, they both don't even deserve to be on the bench right now. And good for us that it's the FA Cup tie next so hopefully Mancini will continue with Panti in the goal for that and put Joe on the bench ...

C'mon City, wake the fuck up and this is the last chance of any sort of trophy this season so this automatically should become top priority now!

I would dearly love for us to win the FA Cup again this season. It is a fantastic competition and the whole experience of going to a final is amazing.

Having said that, I hope we see a few new faces in the starting XI on Sunday. A few of our players have clearly become complacent recently and a spell on the sidelines will do them no harm at all.

Let's see a few of our young lads given a run out, at very least we will witness players giving their all for the cause.

fuck me Kev, Our first eleven look like they'll struggle without putting in dross or youngsters.
Thankfully, it's unlikely to happen as Bob may well be shown the door if our season finishes next weekend.

That's my point. The first XI may struggle because some of them are too complacent, maybe putting a few kids in will increase the work-rate and passion of the team and increase our chances of success.

The FA Cup is a great competition for me and was institutionalised in my formative years. It's good to see that the FA have reinstated the final as being the last game of the season (after this one) where it should've always been.

Playing the final while there were other PL games going on was farcical.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

It was, but it did at least ruin some of their headlines for winning the league on the same day. That won't be a problem this year, unless the move the final to March.

But yes, I want my two over expensive trips to Wembley. I want to be in the charity shield every season, regardless of why we're there, so come on Bob, do your cup stuff.

Usually it would be a bit early for a next up thread but need to get away from those league woes as quickly as possible.

It's a great opportunity to go on and win something in whats been a disappointing season so far, with home advantage against Leeds i'm expecting a comfortable win.

I am expecting a win but I am nor sure about the comfortable part. Mancini has already said he will make changes and with that I assume he will aim for players who give their all rather than turn up expecting.I would expect at least 6 changes from the Soton starting line up

If the likes of Rodwell and Sinclair don't start (assuming no injuries) you have to seriously question what they're doing here. If Mancini doesn't trust them against a championship side at home, he's not going to bring them on against Spurs away.

There's also a few who need a rest eg Zaba just to recharge his batteries.

Huge game this now and hopefully it should be a cracking atmosphere as Leeds will bring 6000 and us City fans, well it's do or die for our trophy ambitions this season so it really should be as lively as a derby fixture.

The team I would go with is:

--------------------Hart

Zabaleta-------Kompany---Nastasic----Clichy

----------------Milner-----Yaya Toure

Silva----------------Tevez---------------Sinclair

------------------------Aguero

I wanna see 100% from everyone. They've got the talent so if they all put in 100% it should be enough to win.

Will someone describe full strength to me please? Under Mancini it's the reputation that picks the first 11, very little else. How else does Yaya walk straight back in when the reason given for Nastasic and kolo missing out is that they were 'returning from international duty', and then we played Garcia back there!?! I appreciate that we needed to bolster the midfield after the scouse game as we were overrun, but Southampton had even more freedom. Barry had a bad day but I think both Yaya and Barry were paying too much attention to the fact Garcia needed to be protected so were too deep. Being too deep like that invited Southampton to press us very high. We should have 'risked' kolo as both kompany and Nastasic will now be back, or even played Yaya back there with Milner in front, this only if you're going to plug the hole rather than play a 3 and lock the midfield down.

Based on recent performances I'd play pants instead of hart, Sinclair instead of nasri, Milner for Barry.

I may be inclined to give nasri a try in the silva role at some point, but that could be too many changes at once.

I'd also like us to have a clear plan b as it was obvious after 10 mins on Saturday that plan a was fucked, yet we didn't obviously try and do anything about it.
