Frank Lampard

Lampard is having another great season and it seems certain that he is not going to be offered a new contract by Chelsea at the end of the season.
It seems crazy to me as he is still a class act, a great goal-scoring midfielder and soon to be Chelsea's all-time leading scorer.
Question is even though he will turn 35 in the summer, should we go for him and offer him a one year contract on a free transfer?
I personally would. His experience in European matches would be invaluable and would allow greater rotation and give the manager greater options to choose from. Also he always weighs in with goals in the double figures each season for the last 10 years or so.
What are everyone's thoughts on us signing Lampard?

If Vieira was worth that, so is Lampard.

No I don't think so. Chelsea have hinted that they are but according to Lampard and his agent, he has not been offered a new deal. Out of the tow parties, I'm inclined to believe Lampard. Also he would willingly take a pay cut I would think to stay at Chelsea but Abramovich seems to want rid of the whole guard.
I think it would be a really good signing for us if we could do it.

I don't think he's had a "great" season but he's done well the last few weeks. I'd take him for a year or two no problem.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Lampard.
I'd much rather take a chance by throwing in one or two of the youngsters from the Academy. They've got to be given a chance sometime and getting someone like Lampard doesn't buy you time, it just buys you nothing.
Anyway at 35, Lampard is just the right age for the Scum so they'll just snap their fingers and he'll go scuttling to them quicker than you can say Robin Van Pussy.
PS I can't stand Christine Bleakley with her monumentally large and gaping mouth, so the above comments are probably coloured by that and are, therefore, my own biased and ridiculously unmitigating drivel. Please disregard at your convenience.

Big YES from me. Any midfielder that gets you 15-20 goals a season is worth it imo no matter what their age

I quite like Frank myself but at his age it would be a pointless move as he can only continue to get worse, bar a recent blast of top form his influence on Chelsea has been in steady decline the past 3 seasons. If we are signing players i think we should be looking for ones that will improve on what we already have and i don't think Frank would improve us now, maybe a few years back alright.

Given his fee and age, he's nailed on to end up at the Theatre of Banjo Players.

I think Lampard is a player like Vieira was when we signed him; perfect for certain situations, liability in others.
Someone like Baconface would just use him off the bench here & there to nick goals v decent teams when they needed it & mainly just start him v shite teams, to keep him happy or use him when they play 5 in midfield.
For that kind of job he would be fine. As one of a two man midfield behind Nasri, Silva, Aguero & Dzeko however, he would be an absolute liability.
I would have no problem us signing him as an impact player but the above situation would give me nightmares. Bob occasionally left Vieira exposed without enough cover, does it to Barry now & possibly would gamble it with Lampard on occasions too.

prob my favorite non city player, would love us to sign him but to be used only as Ted pointed out. Still plenty left in him and you can bet your bottom dollar if he goes to the rags he will be a success.

I hate him, and like to think he is shit but his record speaks for itself. A season or two would be great.
There is no fucking chance he would come here though, far more likely to stay south or go abroad.

I believe Maicon has our ageing experienced supersub position filled.
