You should support your local team....

The cherry on the cake....

I'm in my local pub here up the mountains in France, with the bar owner who has come with me to Poland to watch us get battered by posnan and a few of my mates, who now have city as their 2nd fave team because of my lovely personality.... But we are surrounded by a shed load of rag tourists

We score the first goal and I just clap and enjoy the moment, they equalise and the place erupts with jeers and girlie screams. So when Sergio scores, I go mental just to fuck them all off and as the game draws to a close I start singing a few slightly inflammatory songs....

The final whistle goes and one of the younger rags comes up to me and shouts in a scouse accent.... You should support your local team! I asked him where he thought I was from in a very calm manner, down south he scoused, and where are you from I enquired, Warrington he scoused.

The pub erupted in laughter as he hurried to the door with the words fuck off you twat ringing in his ears, his mates hurried out quickly with their tails between their legs

Priceless

Absolute classic. Sounds a bit like some of my encounters with the Irish population in Calahonda.

But Ryan Giggs is illegitimate and Bobby Charlton does have sweets.

Problem rags?

Saw some of them in NYC an hour after watching the game in the Mad Hatter. Yank rags. Started as banter then turned a bit nasty, so as I bade them fuck off one of them came up with "you too, fuck off back to Manchester." Even his mate had to laugh.

Yank rag .. that sounds like the absolute worst ... actually it's probably tied with a masshole scouser. Truly detestable.

God they are just detestable....I love the way that on facebook, down the pub or however you interract with friends/acquaintances from the red half of town they cannot stop themselves giving it large if they win a game like this and not a fucking peep when they get turned over.

Although I know a lot of us will have a little "waaaaahhhhhh" to them after the game, we as City fans move on and keep things in a lot lot more perspective than those fuckheads.

So happy this morning...fuck you all

Apart from them not being scouse and notwithstanding the panoramic mountain views you have, I had a similar experiece in the Albion last night Patricia .... I think my southern accent threw them, but it was the last thing they heard as they left the pub in droves ;)

Reminds me of last years 1-0 derby at our place. I live in Congleton so my local is full of red vermin. Only my wife, me and the barmaid are blue. At the final whistle is started shouting, "Pride of Manchester!". A bitter turned round and asked, "Where are you from?". "Levenshulme" i replied... "Oh fu k off" he responded,"... United have done more for Manchester than anyone".
When i asked him to be specific he told me to feck off again.

went to same pub for QPR game - a number started chanting 'Blue SCUM" at me when we were 1-2 down ... helped make my celebration that bit sweeter!

Every so often some twat gives me a bit of grief on SKY text letters 459 because of my location. Cant be bothered to explain I was born in Boundary park hospital Oldham and lived in Hollinwood at the time, family moved down when I was 8.

I started supporting City in 1967. My dad was a big rugby league fan with no football afiliation (later cured by me).

Why then?

Actually because I got fed up of the red vomit thrown around at school when Scum won the league in 1967. I was always an awkward sod so I wanted to support City. I was rewarded with the League, FA Cup, League Cup, Euro Cup-Winners Cup and Charity Shield (yes I do count it when it's champions v cup holders) in very quick succession.

People of my age I went to school with in Cornwall support City because we were good then, and most of the 70s. Unfortunately I didn't know how long I'd have to wait for the wheel to come full circle and us to become in vogue again!

Am I OK supporting City as my local team, or should I have stuck with Oldham Athletic? :-)

This is my first comment on here, so hello all!

Well, I'm a 30 old indian chap and have supported City on and off since I was about 10, but I was born in Birmingham and grew up in Peterborough.

It all started when my mum met my step dad, he moved down from Orrell nr Wigan for work, he came from a family of blues.

At the time, I didn't do sports, I didn't even know what football was?! He taught me the game, got me playing and started taking me to Maine Rd. during all my time at secondary school we made regular visits to Maine Rd, I loved it, I have fond memories of the kippax... I can tell you know tho, there was not much fun being a city fan at school - I was the only one, as well as being the only Indian lad?! But, I got on with it and wore my purple away kit with pride, in fact I'd go to bed in it, Rosler was my fav player then Gio.

I go more regularly know, with my step dad, brother & sister who are all die hard blues...we drive up from peterborough regularly go to all the cup games, champions league home games and to as many league home games were possible, always starting in Mary D's for our fish and chips, pre match banter and drinks...

Where im from I always get stick for supporting City, as you can imagine... I get labeled this and that, I don't care. Im surrounded by armchair rag fuck wits, even my best friend, its tragic. I know what it's like to be a city fan before the money... That's where I came from.

It's a much happier time to be blue and im loving it.

Should I support my local team Peterborough Utd? Probably, but I've never supported any other team... I'm not about to change now, never.

CTID.

Thanks for reading...

You're OK, John! I was born at Boundary Park as well. My Mum and Dad lived in Ardwick though. My Dad and his Dad both big Blues, so no option for me.
I live in Texas now. There is this Rag at the pub who gives me shit about not supporting Oldham. The fooker is from Swindon and his Dad's a Pompey fan! YCNMIU.
