http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8631200/For what it's worth, beacuse of the underlined bit:
Sky sources understand Premier League shareholders have ratified the rules governing financial regulation of football clubs.
The plans promise two significant controls; to limit players' wage bills from next season and longer-term measures that will restrict the amount of losses clubs can make to £105million over three years.
Clubs whose total wage bill is more than £52m will only be allowed to increase their wages by £4m per season for the next three years, but the cap does not cover extra money coming in from increases in commercial or matchday income.
The ceiling when the wage increase restrictions kick in will be £52m next season, £56m the following year and £60m in 2015-16. Only seven of the current top-flight clubs would be under that ceiling at the moment.
The regulations have come about against the backdrop of UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) initiative.
Under UEFA's new rules clubs are being forced to minimise losses or risk the possibility of exclusion from European competition from 2014/15.
Should Premier League clubs break their proposed new rules, chief executive Richard Scudamore has already confirmed that they will face a points deduction.
England manager Roy Hodgson has welcomed the new rules.
He said: "It's been something people have wanted for a long time now. It will stop some of the gross injustices that have happened over time.
"There's always going to be injustices in football. We're getting less and less mistakes but we only need to look at clubs like Malaga. We won't ever totally eliminate errors from game."

So ticket prices and matchday expenses are set to increase then, thank you Premier League.

If that was the case then it would definately suit the likes of Sky. The higher the price, the better it is for them as supporters will want to get their fix somehow and to pay for Sky might be the only alternative.
Thinking about it, this agreement suits all parties who run the league.

'Sky sources', lol. Wonder who that could be? They were practically sat at the table negotiating the deal.

All this FFP could see the end of domestic leagues as we know it.
There are going to be teams around Europe who will not be happy with these implications and there will be some who have agreed to them who find out later on that actually, they don't suit the clubs vision.
That European super league may eventually come true. Perhaps not all the elite teams to
begin with, but I can definitely see it coming if clubs don't like the penalties for not following the guidelines.
Why would they? You are a team with a smaller following than the elite, but have money to spend due to investment from owners. If you can't spend it, how will clubs grow and become better? Answer - they can't! You stay rooted to where you are or you go backwards. Only those who are currently at the top and raking in millions will benefit from these schemes.
I do understand there has to be regulations to stop clubs folding like Portsmouth and Rangers, but the regulations should be about always having a minimum float in the bank that isn't borrowed or owed to debts.

Quite simply, If you can cover it, you can spend it. That should be what the reg's should be aimed at.
By preventing spend it clearly shows what the reg's are aimed at, in both Europe and the domestic league.

So the league table will be decided in advance. I can see fans losing interest fairly quickly

financial fair play will be one of, if not THE worst thing to happen to the game in history. In the future they'll just run simulations based on financial strength, with some variables thrown in the mix. It will be like FM, without getting to curse at the little pegs running around not doing what you told them.

I still cannot understand why so many fans of other clubs do not see the impact this will have upon them. It basically ensures that sides like Everton, West Ham, Newcastle etc. will be doomed to mid-table mediocrity.
Only the other week Geoff Hurst was saying how he believed West Ham moving into the Olympic Stadium could allow them to become the 'next Man City' as they would now be attractive for a foreign investor. Can he not see that will never happen with rules such as this?

I know, and it's saddening to see so many people falling for it.
Whilst the rules do restrict us, our massively improved turnover, which could well surpass Chelsea and Arsenal in the next year, should allow us to continue to compete at the top and challenge for trophies. But we're the last ones to get through the door.

Winners of a four horse race. Great.

Could a club's sponsors not agree to pay the players instead of the club, to get them off the club's wage bill?

Lost count of the number of conversations I've had with fans of other clubs who laugh and say that FFP will ruin us. You then point out that due to CL money and increased revenues, these new rules not protect us as one of the elite and effectively stops their team ever challenging us. From a purely selfish City point of view, these rules are great.
You then see the penny start to drop and the realisation that their own owners have just ripped them off.
If they all hadn't been so blinded by jealousy, maybe the fans could have stopped it.

Owners were able to milk clubs up to the abolition of the maximum wage. The move away from pay at the gate further limited their take. The Sky money upped the ante so you had to invest to sit at the top table. Trouble was those pesky players who kept asking for higher wages. Now just in time for the next mammoth hike in tv revenues, owners have voted for measures that will once again let them get their hands on the lucre instead of players under the guise of FFP.
It is purely selfish and short term where as our owners see the longer view.
Where as the FA had the foresight to take great care to introduce measures to ensure the leagues were competitive and would not be dominated by a rich elite, now we have the self serving Premier League. They are following the same path as the financial sector on a road to ruin but not after owners have milked the cash cow dry, sold the carcass and mortgaged the farm.

I predict an exodus of top players to the other European leagues and/or NHL like player strikes when the negotiations between the players' bond and the PL break down.

I predict an end to relegation and then individual TV deals. The american model but without added restraint of trade. Everyone's a winner as far as the owners go, and football will end up like american sport (something you put on the tele between the adverts).

The only problem shall always be "to have" money to pump on.
Once solved that, there shall always be countless means.
