I guess it is time... for goal line technology. I'm not sure if I'm ready for technology to be used for anything else tho.

I don't think technology would be suitable for anything other than goal line discrepancies.
It would halt the flow of the game.

I agree - I'm all for goal-line technology. It shouldn't interfere with the flow of the play. Anything else would do.

I saw stevie starfish on the tv today saying it's great news as the refs need all the help they can get. Well. they do with diving fuckers like stevie around don't they, the fucking hypocrite/ignoramous. What I can't understand is all this fuss over the occasional ball going over the line when in every PL game there are cheating fuckers diving all over the place. if the PL want to get things right and help the refs out why not start retrospectively handing out large bans for the divers?

We need instant replays for all instant red cards (not second yellow) and penalty decisions. How many times do we see ridiculous penalties given or people like Kompany pin for a legit challenge and getting sent off. The refs might not have the benefit of watching on tv but they sure get a lot of shit wrong consistently. It would hardly slow the game down much either. It's not as if instant reds or penalties are that frequent.

Currently, it's not like they are resolved quickly either. An instant read usually comes with 2-3 minutes of the affected team arguing. You would need 30 seconds to view a replay and say 'nope, not a red' or 'yes, red card' ...

that being said, I think we can leave this to just goal line technology for the time being. No reason a goal shouldn't be reviewed. If it's not a goal, it's not a goal. Still enough variables decided by real people to please the purists, I should think, considering the amount of goals that are wrongly called for offsides, and vice versa.

Personally if refs didn't give the red vermin every soft decision going they would probably be doing a good job.

I'm against goal line technology because it changes the fundamental of the game that it's the same at the very top as it is at the bottom. At least it's instantaneous and we din't have the delays like in the NFL or super league.

I'm waiting for taggart trying to move a fixture Bex season in the cup because that ground hasn't got the technology.

Fouls and dives are all a matter of judgement where the referee interprets the rules of the game. TV refereeing would be equally as contentious since it is not an exact science.

A goal is a point of fact as to whether the ball crosses the line or not. If it does cross the line, the ball is dead so play stops and the ref gives a goal. The goal line technology actually helps the referee in the most critical part of the game by instantly and consistently giving accurate feedback not subject to interpretation.

I can see milnersjaws point of view but yeah, can you imagine club captains requesting reviews left right and centre. fuck that.

I think you are confusing subjective decision making with instant factual events like the ball crossing the line for a goal or not.

Games like tennis, rugby codes and cricket have natural breaks in play but the appeal of football is that it flows. Someone has to judge somewhere and it will remain subjective in controversial adecisions. You could add Hawkeye to other out of play boundaries but it will not show which side gains advantage which is of no consequence when it crosses for a goal.
