Extending Contracts

Postby Beefymcfc » Sun Apr 14, 2013 7:04 pm

Seeing that we've just extended a few contracts, who else should we be renewing?

Carlos Tevez, how long has he left?

Gaz Baz, Milner?

Two in their last year and one with 2 to go. I'd want to keep all 3.

Tevez though, is he quite forgiven?

We need to try and keep all 3.

Barry has been pretty much superb throughout the whole time he's been here. Whilst he's getting older now, his game doesn't require pace (which he's never had) and so he should still be able to do a job for us for another couple of years, so at this stage I'd offer him an extension.

Milner still is relatively young, and has been superb this season. He should always be in the first 11 for me, so we definitely should extend his contract.

And yes we should keep Tevez if he wants to stay. The players like him, Mancini and him seem to be getting on well, and he works his socks off every game. If he wants to go back to South America when his contract runs out, then fair enough, and I'd let him play his last season out. But if he's interested in extending, then we should as it will cost us a fortune to get anyone even remotely as good.

There is talk about extending Aguero's contract. I suppose this will help squash the transfer rumours.

Hasn't Tevez done 4 hours community service in the last 2 weeks?

That says to me he's got over 2 years left.

I'm sure he can travel but nobody has answered the question, would you want him to?

PS. I'd have him in a shot.

I wouldnt mind him seeing out his contract unless we needed to make room for someone younger and as good. Dont think we sgould offer him a new one though. He works his bollocks off.. thats his game and hes a top player but I cant see him being that player for too much longer. His desire at City as a club isnt their for me. Maybe I just cant forgive what he did though.

I want all 3 to remain and have all year.

Milner is in his prime and this season has added a bit more quality to his industry.

Barry is still class and seems a great person to have round the squad.

Tevez is still my fav, players love him and he and bobby seem content to work together.

I'd have them all stay, but maybe give barry a shorter extension due to his age ... I'd also be concerned if barry comes back from pre-season any slower than he already is. I think he's a good player, who I hope we can find a replacement for and gradually phase out. If that's what garcia is, then we need to start putting it into effect. Like I said, I've come around on barry, and I like him ... but we need to continually revitalize our midfield ... pace and power are always needed (and can always be upgraded ... for a price).

Honestly I would love to buy sissoko off newcastle. Him and yaya in midfield would roll over and run past anyone in the league. slot in barry/garcia to sit behind, and have milner make contributions in the middle and out wide.

I mean it's all so complicated isn't it? Right now he's doing the business, as he was last spring. But before that he went awol for half a season and the season before that he put in a transfer request right in the middle of a pretty strange period for our team.

For footballing reasons I've forgiven him and moved on. There's a fascist coaching Sunderland and that's the level you have reach to become unforgivable in the football world, IMO. However, I just don't know what his private situation looks like and so on. In most of the cases that doesn't matter but regarding Tevez, it seems to do doesn't it?

But hypothetically, if he was the happiest man in the world for another four years, I'd extend his contract with two years. Key player and seemingly liked by everyone in the team, it's a no brainer for me. But then I'm not much into that clan thinking and us and them as many others are and I very much respect that in their mind, Tevez went to far. So as a sort of safety clause, I'd add that I wouldn't want us to extend his contract if it would mean that the supporter base would be seriously split. I had enough of that during the Hughes period.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Maybe give Barry a one year extension with the view to phasing him out and brining Rodwell in? (Injury permitting) I'd give Milner a contract any day, he's had a superb season and has forced Mancini to play him ahead of others who were more favoured last year (Nasri) and Tevez can stay if he wants obviously a great striker but wouldn't mind if he wants to leave or we can come to an arrangement where he plays out this last year of his contract.

I seem to remember there was lots of positive talk and then talks got shelved for the time being. My memory could be failing me but I have a strong feeling it aint done.

I'd take Sissoko. Definitely.
Also, that Capoue from St. Etienne looks good. Saying that I'd like Yann M'Vila and Paul Pogba!
