Very convenient for the lickers who will no doubt say Nasty was his choice but not the rest. And I don't suppose Mancini wanted Balo, Dzecko or Kolarov?

None of those who banged on about Marwood being shit and particularly hopeless last summer ever said he chose the bloody players. Clearly there was a list (a tiered list of first, second, third etc choice targets).
That list would obviously have been a collaborative production between manager, coaching and scouting staff, Marwood and the ownership.
The execution of the purchases, however, in terms of negotiating deals:
- in the right manner
- at the right time
WAS Marwood's responsibility
Sure we all know that Khaldoon and Sheikh Mansour would have the ultimate decision but if you have already fucked up the negotiating process to a point where others have the initiative or the only way the club will get the targets is by bending over and taking it then clearly they will probably say no.
Mancini has seen the way deals are done competently elsewhere and has been pretty vocal about who he thinks failed last summer.
I am not a "licker" as I currently don't have much faith in him but last summer's transfer fiasco was the responsibility of the man who, funnily enough, no longer has that responsibility

But if we are to believe the top targets were:
1: Hazard - It seems pretty clear that there were issues with the agents bung, and if city have a policy of not getting involved in that. Its hardly Marwood's fault that another club did offer the bung.
2: Van Persie - Was always going to go to United. Not once did any noise come from him or his agent about City.
3: Martnez - We arent Bayern Munich just yet
So whilst I think Mancini is right to be pissed at not getting his targets, the reality is that we were never favourites to sign a single one of them for one reason or another, and in two of the cases, the player simply went to a far bigger and more prestigious club, again something Marwood can do very little about especially if the clubs policy has shifted to paying fair wages rather than blowing the opposition out of the water - a phase I believe is well and truly over for city.
Goetze has gone to Bayern btw for £37m - is that now Soriano's fault? Or is it again just a measure of Bayern's allure and the fact that there are other, bigger clubs than us who are clearly just as happy to pay top dollar as we are? All it needs now is Cavani and Falcao to go elsewhere and we are gonna be blaming the current hierachy for Mancini's failings next year.
I'd prefer to just see the manager manage

i would not want the Rag rent boy in a city shirt regardless off the price.
The point i was making is we should be shopping in Harrods not Aldi.
that is where we went wrong, failure to buy top class players.
zabbadabbado wrote:It is my opinion that the inept transfer dealing in pre-season cost us the title and any progress in Europe.
We won the title last season and then against our manager’s wishes we simply stood still.
Roberto had a wish list of players that would improve us and got none of them. Instead he ended up with players like Scott Sinclair and Javi Garcia. They were not what we needed. Roberto has not played Sinclair even when we have been desperate, there is no way on this planet he is his signing. Garcia is so slow it is unreal. Brian Marwood has to take most off the responsibility for our calamity of a title defense and Champions League failure this season. One could be forgiven for thinking he had an ulterior motive and deliberately put a spanner in the wheel to stall our development. If we had just got one off RVP. ,De Rossi ,Hazard we would be Champions. Yet he still managed to spend £50,000 000 on a load of shite bar Nastasic. Seriously what were all those signings about ?.The cunt should have been sacked.
We should not make the same mistakes again next season. We should give Roberto Mancini full control off all our future signings incoming and out going. The 2 Spaniards should only negotiate contracts for the players Roberto wants, other than that they should concentrate on the Academy which is producing nothing of note right now, I thought that is why they were brought in to start with ?,they need to pull their fingers out and keep out of all first team affairs, they should have absolutely zero input.I am sick of reading who they want at the helm, Roberto Mancini will be our manager at City for at least the next 5 years, the fans love him .I don't want to keep reading the opinions of these 2 because it matters not.
Roberto Mancini delivered us the title last season, and was unlucky to exit the Champions League with one off the highest point’s totals an eliminated team has ever had. He did it with HIS SIGNINGS, and THE PLAYERS HE WANTED.
The control taken from Roberto Mancini should be returned, we should return to the status quo that enabled Roberto to make us English Champions last season. All these pen pushers should concentrate on pen pushing.
FORZA MANCINI

Why do we go for the "just become a big name" and never find a "just about to become a big name"
Nasri, Sanchez, hazard, RVP, de Rossi (had he moved), Ronaldo ( if he moves), Martinez etc are all players that won't see this sale price be repeated on their next move in my opinion.
