Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Roberto Soldado

Postby Lee_R » Tue May 21, 2013 8:58 am

Being honest I dont watch enough La Liga but anyway, I was just looking up players and stats etc and came across Roberto Soldado. Hits stats suggest hes a half decent player and hitting his peak. Anyone seen much of him?

Sorry this isnt a rumour post or anything, just was interested by his stats and would have thought he'd be linked with us if hes any good.

If I recall ... he came out of the real madrid academy and there was a huge amount of hype around him, they thought he would be the next big thing. As is often the case, didn't get a chance to really do much of anything at real, especially as it was still the raul years.

In my opinion, I thought he had kinda fallen off the radar before coming back from the wilderness to valencia, where it seems like he's come into his own now, and I see him as an able striker. I don't think he'll ever be a superstar, but he's definitely found a groove and he's doing well for himself now. Good finisher.

Digging a bit deeper looks like Tottenham are sniffin around him, might be one to watch!

Fucking nonsense.

Soldado is top, as is Negredo. Both would be hits in the Prem.

Tottenham have been on this guy for awhile. I wouldn't be surprised if he joined this summer.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

We can't sign Negredo, it'd give Suarez a free pass to racially abuse our players.

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread from the vault, given that Spurs look likely to sign Soldado. I hope they do. It's funny to rub people's noses in it over here every time a top Spanish player heads to England.

You all see now what I promised was true about Negredo and Soldado is a top player as well. I'm not the sort of person to open my trap if it's something i know nothing about, and Spanish football is my thing.

Spurs definitely need a quality centre forward and they should cough up the extra couple of million before he gets snaffled by Liverpool. I'm surprised Arsenal have never registered an interest.

Sorry, Ted, but I'm keeping this one afloat until later in the season.

I've not seen anything of Negredo and missed yesterday's game, but I've not stuck my neck out.

He's the Defoe of English football now. This must be confusing for Jermain, especially if and when they line up together.

Imho, Soldado is much better than Negredo, but he might be a Helder Postigaquesc type of flop.

He is a scoring machine, a starter for Spain at the moment, in front of Torres, but he is a gamble in english football.

Of course, i want to say the otherway around, but so far, still is not the case. (Really hope he will prove me wrong like Pants or Nastasic did).

Dunno if you remember, but in Spain was a huge scandal in the Euro 2012 semifinal with Portugal, because Negredo played as a starter. The media had a huge pressure on the squad not to use him in the final, until Del Bosque used Silva as a striker, instead of him.

Negredo is a better, more complete player but they're both very decent.
