City fans are class ...

Following on from Roberto taking out a full page advert thanking City fans for their support, the supporters decided to follow suit to show their own appreciation of what he achieved in his three years at the club.

GRAZIE MANCINI FUND IS COMPLETE!

In just 4 days, we have raised over £7000 from over 700 individual donations. We did it.
Every single donation has been from everyday City fans and not one from any of our Celebrity support!

The advert will be 2/3rds of a page thanks to @tancredipalmeri and all at Gazzetta's willingness to negotiate and will be in the paper this weekend. I will hopefully confirm later today that this will be Saturday's edition.

Incredibly, as donations continue to pour in, I am in the position to give every penny over the advert fee to a local Manchester charity, so more people benefit from this idea.

Thank you to everyone who has donated/supported/publicized this, it just shows what fans can do when they pull together, very proud to be a blue at times like these.

Turns out we really do things differently here.

Forza Roberto

A big bow to all the supporters who have made this possible, makes me really happy.

Sad that I am thousands of miles away and cannot be part of this

Thanks Roberto

I won't a copy of this. Is there an Italian poster that could post me one.

I'd cover the postage and cost of the paper obviously.

I very much doubt there's Italians on here. They probably all fucked off when we got rid of Bob.

This is the email I received:

UPDATE: We promised you all a second progress report on the #GrazieMancini campaign and I am very pleased to be able to tell you that this communication is now going to a distribution of almost 700 City fans from Manchester and worldwide. Between you, you have raised nigh on £7000 over the past 72 hours. What makes this even more gratifying is that this is a response by ordinary City fans, the majority giving small amounts to recognise the contribution that Roberto Mancini made. To our knowledge, not a single penny of this money has come celebrity fans. This makes your message even stronger and the entire campaign more worthwhile.

The advert design is just now finalised and, although our original intention was to share it with you in its entirety in this update, the feedback we have had from many of you is that you would like the surprise of seeing it finally in La Gazetta (in any case our final version may be subject to some small editorial adjustments in Italy). We have instead given you an extended extract of the message from the advert above and we will, of course, be sending everybody on this distribution list a professionally scanned version of the advert - exactly as it appears in the paper - once published.

We only need two hundred pounds now to get us over the line, and once we get that, we will stop taking donations. Any late donations or any surplus that might arise from currency conversion will be given to a local Manchester charity (to be decided).

What next? We are going with half a page ad in the broadsheet later this week, either Saturday or Monday. The reason we are not pushing for the extra £3000 for the full page, is that we do not think it necessary to spend any more money when the ad will have just the same effect. It's going to look incredible.

This has been huge. We have shown the world, how good our fanbase is at pulling together and making things happen and the knock on effect this will have will be monumental.

This project could not have happened without your help, so feel proud of what you have done; you are a part of history, this has never been done before. Well done, Blues.

Adam.

Certain posters won't be happy that the three stars made the cut ;)

Seriously though, fantastic touch even if seven big ones is crazy for an ad!
