Sergio Aguero has underlined his commitment to Manchester City with a one-year extension to his contract, which now runs until 2017, the Club can confirm.

Club record signing Aguero joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and wrote his name into the Blues’ history books by scoring the winning goal against QPR that sealed the 2011/12 Premier League title.

The 24-year-old has become a crowd idol during his first two seasons at the Etihad Stadium and has scored 47 goals from just 69 starts for City.

Speaking recently, Sergio said: “I'm very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It's been barely two years since I've arrived and sometimes I feel like I've been here for all my life.

“I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment.

“Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again.”

News of Aguero’s contract extension follows recent new deals for the likes of Gael Clichy, Yaya Toure and David Silva and provides another big boost ahead of the summer’s preparations for the 2013/14 season.

Thought he had joined Calotto's band there.

These are big stars committing to city. This is sure to entice other world class players. Knowing big time players want to stay at city sends an important message not just to us fans, but other teams and other players thinking about coming to us.

He didn't hit the performance highs of our championship winning year in the season just gone, however he is no doubt one of the best in the world in his position and a key man to our future ambitions.

There won't be a buyout clause in his contract

There's something wrong here, Aguero signs a new contract extension, Kompany says he's not leaving, YaYa has already signed a new contract, the franchise in the US - I thought we were a side falling apart, with a dressing room riven with internal fighting, a toy for a maniac bunch of Arabs who will chop & change when it isn't going their way - a sad day for the club that the likes of Aguero will stay, I presume it's just Silva who hates it here? ;)

I can't imagine what the papers will fill their summer pages with - it'll just have to be the usual snubs from all those marque signings we are desperate to sign

Just need Kolarov to sign a new deal now and this summer will be off to a flyer!
