The Pérez-Soriano Pact

I dont understand the bit about football products, but here it is, from El Confidential, 'The daily paper for intellectual readers'

The appearance of the nouveau riche like Dimitri Rybolovlev, owner of Monaco, or the already- established rich Abramovich; Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, heir to the throne of Qatar and figure head of PSG, Suleiman Kerimov, owner of Anzhi…. Has put on alert many club directors, as is the case with Florentine Pérez and Ferrán Soriano who have a greed a pact of non-agression and of circulation of information so that third parties, intermediaries, agents and also players can be rewarded for using the names of Real Madrid and Manchester City in order to increase the price of certain football-related products of which so much will be talked in the next three months. The presence of Soriano as chief exec of the English clubeliminates it from that list of clubs who strike with the chequebook without worrying about the consequences.
The President of Real and the DG of City have spoken on repeated occasions in the last few months. They have confronted each other as rivals and want that this friendship forged in the world of business is reflected in the clubs for which they are responsible.. Besides having points of view in common they also have a common enemy, none other than Sandro Rosell. Behind the Barca man’s back they have wanted to establish a fluid dialogue to avoid conflicts of interest when it comes to signings, avoiding gighting for the same targets and, f necessary, negotiating directly if one team wants a player of the other., maybe Silva or Agüero. Something which will not happen with Barcelona.
In the case of Soriano, old companion of the Rosell regime, the matter is in the courts and doesn’t look like ending in a friendly manner. The CEO of City is determined to move heaven and earth to finish the current Barca President. He will never go against Barcelona, but he will against it’s President, who’s behaviour and conduct he doesn’t understand, nor his attitude to his old companions at the start of the Laporta era.
Pérez used to count Rosell amonst his friends. They worked together in the signing of Ronaldo in the time of stay as Nike executive and in the months previous to his candidacy as President, as well as the first few months of his tenure, the novice asking advice of the veteran director. Now that situation has been marginalised amid complaints to UEFA and also because of some of the behaviour and statements of Mourinho and some Barca players, the intereference of Barca in the signing of Neymar has been decisive in the transition of Rosell to enemy.
Many of the Real directors asked Pérez to counter-attack and ‘tap up’ some of the Barcelona players. The favoutrite and most likely for the Bernabeu is Busquets, who’s contarct ends 30th June 2015, whilst others point to Thiago is price is now €18 as he hasn’t played the determined number of matches for his large release clause.

€18 for Thiago seems reasonable.

There are always problems with the type of collusion this article alludes to. The incentive to cheat, conflicts of interest and the question of whether City really want clubs like RM have any influence or holding favours over us. Would rather our directors concentrated on City issues than getting involved with the politics of Spanish football.

God knows if there is any truth in any of this, I would welcome someone being able to comment on the integrity of the paper and/or the writer of the article.

Watching "Barcelona Confidential" only the other evening, I was struck with the fact that Barca seem to have 2 competing factions vying for power, with Soriano and Tricky well tied well and truly in with the La Porta camp.

Since Pixie and Dixie have come to City, Barca, a club we seemed to have enjoyed a decent recent relationship with, have been making more than a few anti City noises.

If there is any truth in any of this and that remains to be seen, I don't feel comfortable about City as a club becoming embroiled in any personal/political issues that Pixie and/or Dixie may bring with them.

There is enough at City alone to keep them occupied without unnecessary, possibly damaging distractions.

Not sure whether it would be good or not. Whether this sort of thing is what Soriano was brought in for - to play politics with the very big boys and play a role right at the top of the European game, eventually leading to us pulling Twatini's strings.

Brian Marwood couldn't play in that card school and although Gary Cook is a capable man he never was a football man. From the first time I heard Soriano was coming (and his pal) I thought it was another way to buy into the top table.

Real are not the type of club we need to have a relationship with.

They are the type of club who will smile to our faces and then tap up and unsettle our best players whenever it takes their fancy. We will get fuck all in return. I don't see any reason to be in bed with them, as a club they are worse than the rags. They don't sell anyone worth buying for anything close to what they are worth. They won't pay anything close to a players value when they want them. Snidey and underhanded are the only things that come to mind when I think of that club and then if they still can't get their way they might get the chequebook out. But I wouldn't say we are anywhere near the position to be able to stand up to them if push came to shove so we would just get shafted.

I don't like to think the guy who is basically running our club is carrying a vendetta against people at other clubs either.

This makes sense - keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Collusion must be happening to some degree already as there's little return in battling auction style for players acquisitions. If there's truth to us backing out of the race to sign Isco then this could be an indication of these behind the scenes gentleman's agreements

Ashton Mate,

The 1st thing is that we don't know if any of this is true or just plain speculation from the media. Beyond that, if true, I agree that we don't need any extra distractions of Spanish football politics or left over personal vendettas. Even further beyond that however, if we have made an enemy of Barca, and they have made noises recently about us, we may need Real as an ally.

Like you Mate, if any of this is true, I don't feel comfortable.

You really telling me that those corporate backrooms, all full of high flying and high powered businessmen are really little more than womens' gossip shops and powder rooms?

No wonder the world of finance collapsed.

Worse even. You know that. These diva fucktards need someone rimming their buttholes 24/7 due to being desentitized to most normal stimilus.

So if there's any truth in this article both clubs wont be competing for Isco and Cavani.

Here are some of the elements connecting us and Real Madrid at the moment. Some will be bollox, some may be true, but hopefully whatever happens is being thrashed out behind closed doors well away from Chelsea and Barca:

Isco
Cavani
Di Maria
Pepe
Higuain?
Tranny?

It is all bollox, but probs true. Power play stuff. I don't like the personal agenda thing being a part of it.. that is a weakness at the end of the day and will be Soriano's achilles heel.

Anyway I suppose City need to make 'friends' in all the powerful leagues to dabble in disruption of any 'non friends' in said leagues.

A quick scan gives us Bayern, Dormund? Barca, Real, the rags, Chelsea, Milan, Juve? Back one or the other in each country in order to play power games that CEO's disfunctionally believe will help their club's cause. Imo the only thing it goes to show is that these guys don't have enough day to day work to get on with if they have the time to dream up shit like this.

Any political effort I believe is always overshadowed by success on the pitch and top class football, do well and everyone wants to lick your arse. Simples.
I'd rather City got on with creating a world wide fan base by playing stunning football and giving access to it to fans all over the world, particularly the Yastic spanks.

The agenda against City is there already, surely you have all noticed ?

If we become friends with one of the most influential clubs (one who will dodge such things as ffp by using similar methods to us) it cannot be a bad thing, unless we are somehow clueless to the potential pitfalls, which I doubt very much.

We have seen how the Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern clique have been working together with people such as Berlusconi, to put pressure on Platini. Many of the other clubs will have been smiling to our faces & stabbing us in the back. Barca have been behaving like twats with City, even outing Pellegrini as City manager because they were interested in him & lost out.

Having an ally at the top table rather than having ALL of them join forces against us, is not a bad thing.

Although I despise him I'd piss my sides if we were doing a secret deal with Madrid for Tranny.

The way the deluded rag cunts keep going on about him 'coming home' - just to ram it down their throats if we got him would be worth it.

Wasn't it last season when we came out with an official statement denying interest in one of Real's players that we'd been linked with in the press? (or was it one of Real's targets?) Not the sort of thing we usually do...

I wonder if the discussions have gone along the lines of Real get Cavani at a lot less than €63m and we get Isco at less than €30m by each team backing out of the bidding at the appropriate time??

Just a thought
