Saw a little lad in a yellow City training top today. The profile is rising.

Thanks for these updates, John. Very much appreciated.

I've seen a few away shirts at my football club as well. It seems more popular with the kids than the home shirt.

DIGICEL partnership

Manchester City FC and New York City FC have launched a new multi-year partnership with Digicel, the number one communications partner across the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific.

The Barclays Premier League Club and new Major League Soccer franchise will come together with the leading telecoms brand to create a wealth of multimedia content, as well as community coaching and once in a lifetime opportunities.

In a landmark new partnership, a first for either club in the region, Manchester City, New York City FC and Digicel will work together on a range of community initiatives, unique content interaction across broadcast, digital and mobile, promotional opportunities, VIP attendance at games at Yankee Stadium in New York to enjoy the MLS as well as at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester to enjoy Premier League games.

The partnership will also see collaboration on Digicel’s marquee Digicel Kick Start coaching programmes across 15 markets annually with further coaching programmes for the top selected players to take place in the training Academies of New York City FC, Manchester City FC and Melbourne City FC for up to 24 young aspiring football players in total.

This exciting new partnership is the next evolutionary stage in the already vastly established Digicel Kick Start Programme that now sees more interaction for more fans with more big clubs than ever before in the region’s largest played sport.

Omar Berrada, Commercial Director of City Football Marketing, which brokers Manchester City FC and New York City FC’s commercial partnerships, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Digicel as our very first partner in the Caribbean, Central America and South Pacific Islands. Digicel has invested significantly in growing, developing and marketing football across their regions for several years and we are looking forward to working together to bring exciting promotions and content to football fans across these markets.”

Digicel Group Director of Marketing Operations, Kieran Foley, said:

“Digicel is delighted to be working with Manchester City and New York City FC, both clubs who enjoy an international following. This marks the next phase in our development marrying content and community programmes across all our markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific as well as into our Diaspora communities from afar.

"Knowing we have set the bar high with our previous partnerships from the Barclays Premier League and with the Caribbean Football Union, we are very excited to develop this platform with Manchester City FC and New York City FC, to deliver compelling and exclusive content which our customers can consume in broadcast, digital and mobile channels, exciting experiences and promotions, as well as the unique and greatly enhanced."

This probably wont mean much to non Irish supporters but Digicel means Denis O Brien and it pains me to see City associated with him in any way.

We have not yet even begun!! USA:

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news ... rmata.html

Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) tapped Fermata Partners to be the soccer club’s licensing agency for North America.
Atlanta-based Fermata Partners said the agreement lets it cultivate the club’s consumer products business in North America through partnerships with key manufacturers (licensees) and retailers.

“As Manchester City’s profile grows across North America, we are delighted to be working with Fermata Partners to ensure that our growing fan base can access high quality Manchester City merchandise across the region,” Serena Gosling, director of retail and licensing for City Football Marketing, said in a statement. “We have been regular visitors to North America in the past few years, including our first team’s post-season Tour of Canada and the US, and we have been seeing high demand for Manchester City products, which we are confident Fermata will help us to meet.”

Manchester City has become one of the best-known and most successful soccer clubs in the world, enjoying significant success the past five seasons. During that time, Manchester City has won two Premier League titles (2011-12 and 2013-14), an FA Cup Trophy (2010-11), and a League Cup (2013-14) and has become a regular participant in the UEFA Champions League.
Fermata expects to have several license agreements finalized in short order, with initial deliveries of product hitting retail to coincide with the start of the 2015-16 Premier League season in August.

Fluffy stuff indeed!!

Following on from technological advances in sports such as hawk-eye in tennis and goal line technology which was introduced to football last season, Manchester City are looking to unearth creative ideas and continue the flow of mainstream technology in sport.

Teaming up with mobile platform ‘Ideas Britain’, the former Premier League Champions are looking to locate grassroots entrepreneurs with creative ideas for technology in sport, according to Real Business.

Called ‘innovation for sport’, Ideas Britain, who describe themselves as “more than an incubator or fund,” is the platform that is connecting entrepreneurs with “expert” business coaches.

The first 100 entries to the competition will be scrutinised by Ideas Britain business coaches so that those submitting early can gain expert advice before the full competition begins.

Andrew Gilligan, head of research and insights at Manchester City FC, said that this project comes as part of a plan to improve the club as a whole.

“At Manchester City we are constantly looking for ways to introduce new and innovative ideas across all aspects of the club” Gilligan said. “Ideas Britain recognises the importance of opening the door to everyone to ensure that the best ideas get the attention they deserve, and we share their passion for providing young people in our local community with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to not only have their ideas heard, but also put into action.”

Adam Shaw, founder and CEO of Ideas Britain, also said that Ideas Britain are “hugely proud” to be working with a partner such as Manchester City, and that they “want to tap into the insight and enthusiasm of young people everywhere.”

The competition formal launches in October 2015 and will run until 15 December, after which winners will be announced on 15 January 2016. Those successful will have one-on-one mentor sessions with Ideas Britain coaches and the staff at Manchester City best studied to moving their idea forward.

Man City may build academy
HA NOI (VNS) — Francisco Lopez, chief business officer of Manchester City Football Services, paid a working visit yesterday to SHB Da Nang to discuss the future construction of an academy in the central city.
Lopez visited SHB Da Nang's new 20,000-seat Hoa Xuan Stadium and the team's sports centre in Lien Chieu District.

The new stadium, which cost VND281 billion (US$10.3 million), is scheduled for completion in December.

Lopez also visited Ha Noi's T&T FC to talk about co-operating on preparations for a friendly Manchester City tour in Ha Noi next month.

Thanks Patrick I was a bit slow off the mark today, tied up booking a holiday for October!

For those of us of a certain age Da Nang carries all sorts of other connotations/memories, but it's good those times have gone

I seem to remember that in some form or other of social media we are the top club in Vietnam and we also got tied up with some bank or credit card.

Good stuff.

Clouds around the world, as announced in the announcements thread!:

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/20 ... 1436265394?

SAP SE and City Football Group (CFG) today announced a global, multiyear marketing and technology partnership that will transform the way the ownership group and its football teams operate and perform, from the boardroom to the pitch.

SAP will become the official 'Cloud Software Provider' and a trusted technology advisor of City Football Group and its four clubs around the world, including Manchester City FC (Men and Women), New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F. Marinos.

Khaldoon al Mubarak, Chairman of City Football Group, commented: "This partnership is as important as it is broad, stretching across all entities within the City Football Group.

"In SAP we have found a technology partner that is committed globally to our businesses and one that shares our constant drive for innovation.

"Our common ambition is to create groundbreaking football specific technology solutions and products and I have every confidence that we will be successful."

Bill McDermott, CEO and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE said: "City Football Group is one of the most innovative and technology-driven football organizations in the world.

"We are so proud that SAP HANA and our cloud solutions will be enabling City Football Group’s vision for supporting the players and coaches while completely reinventing the fan experience."

City Football Group and its clubs will implement a wide variety of cloud-based solutions powered by the SAP HANA® platform with the aim to simplify their world-wide operations, scale their business, increase productivity and enhance the fan experience.

Another key element of the partnership will be the collaboration to co-innovate and develop new applications to analyze and improve performance on the field for players and coaches.

Business Operations
To further expand globally and improve operational efficiencies across all clubs, City Football Group will utilize cloud solutions from SAP, including SuccessFactors® solutions, the SAP® Jam™ social software platform and the SAP Simple Finance solution powered by SAP HANA, to enhance talent management and HR processes and drive more collaboration worldwide.

Analytics solutions from SAP, including SAP Predictive Analytics software and SAP® BusinessObjects™ business intelligence solutions, will be the center of CFG’s new information infrastructure to put 'information at your fingertips' in order to analyze and simulate all data from ticketing to merchandising to allow decision makers across the organization to make faster and more informed decisions.

Fan Engagement
A variety of SAP solutions will be leveraged to enhance the fan experience in CFG team stadiums around the world, including an interactive digital insights wall at the Etihad Stadium that will bring real-time analytics and insights to fans attending matches.

SAP and CFG will change the way that fans of CFG teams access and consume football data, allowing them to look at the game differently and understand it in the most relevant way.

To provide an even better experience for fans, CFG will use SAP solutions for customer engagement and commerce and customer experience management software from hybris, an SAP company.

Player and Team Performance
Looking forward, City Football Group will co-innovate with SAP on new technological enhancements in the areas of talent management, football performance and human performance for future versions of the SAP Sports One Solution.

As the first sports-specific cloud solution powered by the SAP HANA platform, SAP Sports One provides users with a single, unified platform to manage their individual teams and players efficiently, as well as analyze and contextualize data from different sources and in various formats for new insights for performance optimization.

The partnership with CFG builds on a growing portfolio of relationships throughout football around the world and continues SAP’s strategy of working with sporting organizations that showcase SAP technology.

Last summer, SAP and the German National Team (DFB) co-innovated on the development of SAP Match Insights, using SAP HANA, which enabled the team to collect and analyze player data during training to help them secure their fourth World Cup Championship.

Outside of football, SAP transforms sport by successfully collaborating with a number of well-known sports organizations and associations in ice hockey, sailing, golf, Formula 1 racing, cricket, American football, baseball, tennis and basketball.

I've been living in Da Nang for about 6 months now (about 100 yards from China Beach) and it's transformed into one of the most beautiful cities I've ever had the pleasure to visit. Best City in Vietnam by far and (of course) you wouldn't recognize it from 40 years ago. Most of these videos take place where the main US base used to be:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1INttWSy_A
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A53HPbT5y4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVSMF9FEze8

And here's a sunset we saw the other night:

Image

Crazy thing is that 70% of the population is under 30 years old (from the war) and the economy is expanding quite rapidly, so building an academy here would make great sense.

Now we've got the worldwide coconut market sewn up.

http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/artic ... 544e2y4zw6?

City Football Group (CFG) today announced a global partnership between coconut brand, Coco Joy, part of the FAL Food & Beverages range and three of CFG’s clubs. The partnership will extend Coco Joy’s successful partnership with 2015 A-League semi-finalists Melbourne City FC, who have worked with the brand since 2014, to CFG sister clubs, Manchester City FC and New York City FC.
The announcement comes as Manchester City FC play two games in Melbourne as part of their pre-season tour and follows the first ever game between two CFG clubs as Melbourne City took on Manchester City on the Gold Coast on Saturday evening. The new agreement also extends Coco Joy’s relationship with Manchester City FC, with Coco Joy branding visible on the team’s shirtsleeves during the Club’s visit to Australia as part of a Tour Partnership.
In addition to a wide-range of activations in Melbourne, Coco Joy will also boost its presence in New York and Manchester, engaging local fans with giveaways and money can’t buy experiences.
Omar Berrada, Commercial Director of City Football Marketing, which brokers CFG’s commercial partnerships, said:
“We have had an excellent relationship with Coco Joy in Melbourne and it is a fantastic success story for that partnership that we are now going to be working together at Manchester City and New York City FC as well. As the popularity of coconut based beverages continues to grow, there couldn’t be a better time to work with Coco Joy to bring the joy to our fans all over the world.”
Tim Xenos, CEO of FAL said “FAL is a global company with a vision of creating healthy and innovative food and beverage products. We develop brands which encompass and provide consumers with a real choice
“Coco Joy is a coconut brand dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle to consumers globally and we see our partnership with the three clubs as a fantastic platform to work together to help collectively promote a healthy lifestyle whilst they can experience the quality, choice and enjoyment in what Coco Joy has to offer.”
The partnership was announced in Melbourne as part of Manchester City FC’s pre-season tour of Australia and was attended by both Manchester City FC and Melbourne City players with a video message from New York City FC.
