And no Arabic?

They seem to be concentrating on the oriental countries which I guess makes sense with massive populations there.

I wonder is India a potentially lucrative market in the near future

I guess they've gone for population. Former colonial languages or otherwise ethnically significant ones. (Pretty much the whole of India - or rather the large part of it with disposable income - already speaks English to a high standard)

I guess Spanish & Portugese cover South America just as much as Spain & Portugal themselves being that our manager & a few players come from there too.

The Thai, Malay & Indonesia ones weren't bought in when Thaksin was in charge?

UAE pretty much most people speak English so no real urgency for an Arabic site I guess?

India? Not sure if football in general has much of a following, they eat sleep and breath cricket. Also from what I gather pretty much all English speaking anyway.

Don't know nor care about the French or German language sites. Most Eastern European countries have good enough command of the English language too (along with the Scandinavian countries).

if you've been to India you probably wouldn't ask that.

Maybe in 20 years or something, but...it's Cricket-mad, and there just isn't room for footy. Most could give two fucks about football. Besides...Indians have bodies somehow designed by God for cricket and not football.

BTW unrelated, i don't believe in God.

cheers

You wouldn't be questioning India as a potential market, if you saw the sheer amount of rag hordes living here.-_-

I'm pretty sure we have a supporter's group in India, didn't one of the guys post about it on here a few years back? (Assuming it's still going).

And saying Indians have bodies designed for cricket not football is a bit like saying Americans have bodies designed for the couch and TV dinners.

Ahmm Ahmmm !! I take offense to that.

India is slowly catching up on football in a big way, once people in India realize cricket is no more the awesome game people think it is and start exploring, football is the next big thing (Sachin is retired - ya one man is a big factor).

Nobody likes to support a loosing club, that is why you will see lot of Liverpool, Arsenal & rag fans been supporting from the glory days of each of the teams time. There is hatred created toward's city by other supporters because they are taking it hard that city is making in big.

Winning is one of the most important criteria, alongside classy football outside UK, for the obvious reasons. Our time is good now, Fergie is gone, shrek is going, ronaldo is not there,.. We are winning and people in India are recognizing that, just like rest of the world.

There is Manchester cit fans India group on fb, which is pretty useless, I think I should start a decent one soon and post important things from this group over there.

At the end if you have 1 Billion population and are able to capture a % of it, that's fucking big mate. I am Indian and in US currently.

Both true then?

I'd say it's actually more true of the oriental nationals, who are usually smaller and slimmer than European compatriots, yet football there is big. India etc may be mainly interested in cricket, but just a small percentage of their middle class being into football would mean millions of fans. You can see the appeal.

Sooner or later, countries like India and China are going to create a world class footballer. The team who has that player is in for big money.

I think you have a point, football just isn't popular there at the moment. But, with the nation becoming more westward looking there's massive potential in the long term. And as bleed_blue says even a 1% slice of a billion could represent huge revenue opportunity

cheers

EA partnership extended. Tom's at it again!

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/20 ... artnership

Manchester City FC is delighted to announce it has renewed its award-winning partnership with global video games company, Electronic Arts Inc, reaffirming EA SPORTS as the Club’s official gaming partner.

The alliance has been a big hit with fans over the last two years and has witnessed a number of innovative collaborations between the parties.

The three-year extension was announced today in Hong Kong as part of City’s summer pre-season tour and will enable City to continue reaching its global network of fans via digital content.

The partnership has brought City fans closer to the action than ever before with FIFA gaming pods installed in the Etihad Stadium's Family Stand and an EA SPORTS Blue Zone – an experiential gaming hub - in the heart of the club's pre-match fan entertainment area, City Square.

Hospitality guests on match-days have also been catered for via the creation of a bespoke EA SPORTS ten-seat box, complete with luxury gaming chairs, a 42” LED screen, gaming consoles and all of the latest EA titles.

Most significantly away from the pitch, has been the Club’s rapid growth in global popularity within the FIFA series.

Commenting on the partnership, Tom Glick, Chief Commercial and Operating Officer for Manchester City Football Club said: “EA SPORTS is one of the best known brands in the world, not only within the games industry, but also among sports fans the world over. Proof positive of the appeal to our supporters is that registrations among City fans for FIFA 13 - one of the all-time top selling global games - has way exceeded the 400,000 mark. This is a remarkable figure and is testament to the strength of this now established partnership.

"We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished together over the last two years and even more excited about what we can continue to achieve together in the future.”

Dan Holman, Head of UK Product Marketing EA SPORTS added: “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Manchester City. The Club has proved themselves to be forward thinking in their approach, with a willingness to expand and digitise their partnership efforts through EA SPORTS FIFA. This has proved a huge success and we’re only too pleased to be able to continue our relationship.”

The ever-energetic Tom's offering today:

http://www.b2bmarketing.net/news/archiv ... nt-partner

Recruitment consultants, Hays, has become the official recruitment partner of Manchester City Football Club.

Hays plans to activate the three-year partnership through a global marketing programme using City’s crest, player imagery and powerful brand messaging with a focus on digital and social media platforms, in addition to match-day LED advertising and media interview backdrops.

Sholto Douglas-Home, Hays Group marketing director, said: “The partnership between Hays and Manchester City is based on a mutual ambition to attract skilled, expert professionals to build high performance teams, whether it be on the football pitch or in the world of work. We both thrive on the challenge of identifying skilled individuals who offer the right chemistry and capabilities to help a team to succeed."

Tom Glick, chief commercial and operating officer for Manchester City, added: “It’s a privilege to welcome Hays on board as a valued member of our stable of global partners. Hays has established themselves as a truly international brand, with a wealth of experience attracting the best talent and expertise in the workplace.”

i made no stab in the dark. i am giving you my opinion on why India isn't a bigger footy market right now, and won't be in the next decade.

Teams spending cash in the Indian market chasing fans would be pissing money away imho. The US, China, other Southeast Asian countries, South America and Central America. That is all.
