As per the Romanian media, Pantilimon is very close to joining the newly promoted Hull City and a fee has already been agreed ... fantastic move for him if it goes through ... but we'd be out of second and third choice keepers.

After the Chelsea US friendlies I really hope Wright takes retirement himself now, and we bring in someone who really challenges Joe to keep him on his toes.

I saw Leno vs the Spanish U21's the other day, he had an absolute shocker, i'd pass on that. Ter Stegen is a good shout though but he will demand to be number 1.

Lets just go for an older established keeper of a high level if Panti leaves... Julio Cesar perhaps??

From what i know, this was 2 or 3 weeks ago, but he declined the offer.

I"ve heard his agent on tv saying that a move from City to Hull will be a step back for him. Imho, he is playing the Fiorentina card.

On the other hand, today i saw something about Chiriches, the defender and City trying to bring him in. Steaua has huge problems and will be banned from Europe and they will sell their best players. The fucker is good, but he will want to play and he is on Vinnie"s position.

I agree on Wright, but I would like to see us bring in a very competent older keeper as a backup. Bring back Given? How about Brad Friedel? I believe he has is coaching badge(s) would be a natural move as a #2 who could push Hart and eventually work with younger keepers.

Liverpool could do far worse should Reina go to Barca, or if rumours are true, Scouse want Mignolet as his replacement then Sunderland would be a better shout than Hull, who will only be here for one season IMO.

I tried to do a Google search for it but couldn't find anything to back up my statement. I just remember reading it somewhere. But here is a quote I found from Wenger talking about it.

"It is difficult at the moment. Ramsey is out on loan for one month. If it is a month you have to wait for the month unless we have exceptional injuries, then you can have the request [to recall a player]. But Ramsey needs games so even if you recall him he needs first games before he plays."

The golden glove thing is bollox because the clean sheet record relies on the defence as much as if not more than the goalie. Our defence has been superb and I think that Costel (or any number of other international class goalies) would've got the GG's last season if he'd been in goal for us throughout.
He's certainly better at defending set pieces than Joe is, he dominates his box better than Joe does and his distribution is faster and more accurate than Joe's. Joe's a superb shot-stopper on his day but Costel might prove as good in that area too if we could have got to see him have a proper run of games.

There's no denying that Joe can be fantastic but, as last season proves, he can also be not so good too. There were so many games where we had a rake of shots brilliantly saved by the opposition goalie only for Joe to fail to anticipate or fumble one to concede a goal from only a few attempts at our end.
If Joe can get back to the form he had in our championship winning season then that's magic because we can't afford to have like he was last season despite the GG's being sat on his mantlepiece.

Whenever he's played for us, I don't think Costel has done much wrong, but he's done an awful lot that is right.

Weaver = free agent. Get him back for FA & LC games as second choice, the rest third. Also, (I think) club trained, which would sort out 3rd choice keeper probs for CL squad. Everyone who was there/watching on TV 99 would love it.
