I see Richard Dunne has joined QPR and Nicky Weaver has joined Aberdeen. Both on frees.

Good luck to them both particularly NW who will always have a place in my heart after Wembley 1999

I still reckon we should have signed Weaver as third choice for European games, to help with our home-grown quota...

Good luck to them both.

I also would've liked to see Weaver here.. but I might be just sentimental as I haven't seen him play for a good while now and I don't think it's a good sign he was released by Wednesday.

Good luck to both anyway!

Surely better than putting in our third-choice EDS 'keeper if there's an injury at short notice, and a more efficient use of a space than putting Richard Wright (domestic, but not home-grown) in our CL squad? Remember that most of our EDS will have fixture clashes with the new UEFA Youth League, if the fixtures coincide. I also reckon he'd only command a wage of £3-4k per week.

Wright won't be in the CL squad, Johansen will. Club homegrown.

Providing he's not loaned out.

With the U19 Champions League, is it under-19 no exceptions, or are you allowed some (2 or 3) overage players?

Eirik isn't eligible.

Thanks. So it's only loaning we have to worry about. However, I'd assume our management (and Eirik himself) are aware of the risks entailed in this.

I honestly think at the age of 21 he needs to be playing, so if we loan him out while it might not be the best thing for City, it is the best thing for Eirik. I hope we can remember to put a recall in(which means no season-long loan) this time and what a fucking kick in the teeth that was for Gunnar, still annoyed at that.

Agree with that, however, were I the club, I'd sit him down and explain the situation (needed as third choice for CL), and as a sweetener promise him the bench for all domestic cup games, plus starts against League One and below teams, with the option of being loaned out if we go out of Europe.

I think it's a shame for the purposes of the Junior CL that there isn't an exemption for goalkeepers, say to 22 years old, as they are recognised throughout the profession as 'late developers'.

He is. Spent three seasons with us before turning 21, which is the definition.

I think you can't put a recall option on Prem-to-Prem transfers.

Didn't we buy him from Mansfield?

Yes, when he was 17 or 18. As long as you spend 3 seasons with a club before you are 21 (or the season you turn 21 or 22), then you are counted as 'club developed' for UEFA purposes.
