Fabregas

Why the fuck aren't we in for him?

Surely we'd have as much a chance of getting him as those cunts. Or at least we could push up the transfer fee?

What a player.

Three reasons I can think of:

1) We're overstocked in that area.
2) Massive wages.
3) FFP.

A great player, yes, but we've done exactly the business we needed to do and at the right price.

Not sure if we're overstocked - i suspect we'd be there if there was any serious interest in nasri

I read that he doesn't want to leave Barcelona. Is he really available?

Yaya
Fernandinho
Rodwell
Barry
Milner
Silva
García
Nasri

That's a lot of senior midfielders to have on the books whose preferred playing position is through the middle.

Well, this is the thing I suppose...

I still believe that clubs don't make bids unless they have been given encouragement from somewhere - especially the bigger transfers.

There is so much politics involved in transfer sagas that it's hard to know exactly what's real and what isn't. I mean, not once did Sky break with "City make £23m bid for Isco" or similar. And we all know we spoke to the player.

In this case, I believe Barca would take £30-35m for Cesc because he isn't as important to them as they are to him. They probably encouraged the scum to bid in the hope of persuading him to leave.

Either way, we should be on the scene. We are not over stocked in any area if a BETTER player becomes available. Especially a player of his age and quality. Others could be sold to make way if need be.

but Antti said we don't have enough yet. Isn't Fabregas capable of playing as a "false 9" and therefore a striker and not an attacking mid?

back on topic, i thought that we'd have sold one of those players on that list this summer. I'm kinda surprised we haven't tbh, Garcia, Nasri or Barry being the likely candidate(s).

This.
Now that is the kind of player that could make genuine difference.

One of the best midfielders in world football. Might be available for 30 odd million. I just don't get it. Unless, as some conspiracy theorists have stated, this is all to show their fans they are trying for top targets, whereas we have been told this isn't happening?

All a bit mysterious!

Apart from Silva and Yaya none of them are fit to wipe Fabregas ass after hangover dumb.

Rodwell, promising but untested. Doesn't look like truly world class talent
Barry, past it and his passing is nothing compared to Fabregas
Milner, jack of all trades master of none
Garcia and Nasri are both shite. The sooner we see back of them the better
Fernandinho, ???

We should try to get rid of Garcia, Nasri and Barry and replace them with genuine top notch player like Fabregas (or someone of similar quality). That, I feel, would make us proper contender in all fronts. Imagine midfield of Yaya and Fabregas with Navas on the right and Silva on left drifting in. That would leave us with Fernandinho, Milner and Rodwell providing cover.

I agree. If he is available, we should be getting rid of players to make room for him. Is proving just what a great player he is again and again. I doubt they'll let him go though, he's supposed to take over Xavi when he retires and at 33, that's not too far away.

Xavi has a few years left in him yet IMO. He is one of those that could play until he's 40.
