Monday night first game isn't ideal for us fans but for players all gone around the world for international games this week, a day or two extra of rest won't do any harm ...
Very very hard to predict a Pellegrini XI but judging from the pre-season here's what I think we should start with:
Pantilimon
Richards - Kompany - Lescott - Clichy
Navas - Fernandhinio - Yaya - Silva
Dzeko - Negredo
Though I think, Pelle will probably start with Hart instead of Panti ...
My score prediction: City 3 - 1 (or 2) Newcastle

Shame I'm starting such a time-consuming job. Absolutely BUZZING about this seaon. Even if we don't win the league we will hopefully witness a different flavour on the pitch.
This is my first of hopefully many this season, no seasoncard though. :(
I'm gonna second that 3-2 from AG.
COYB!

I'm not forgetting the debt we owe to Joe for his fine stopping in the season before last but I'm with AG7 in having Costel between the sticks in my preferred selection of the 1st 11 because (IMO) he's been the better of our 2 most favoured keepers for some considerable time now & he would not have come second best in 3 1 on 1's against the arse for sure (in the same way Joe wouldn't in the 2011/12 season).
I'm a bit peeved at the Monday night ko, and the extra pressure that'll put on our guys in their inaugural game of the 2013/14 premiership season, but I'm keenly looking forward and, yes, I do predict a win though I go for 4-0 to us as I think Costel will be in net and our defence will be drilled to the point of understanding in advance, while our wealth of attacking prowess rips the barcodes apart at the seams.
Come on you Blues eh!

Like most I find Monday night games a pain in the arse but at least this one is the first game of the season so I'll ignore the inconvenience. I'm goin for 2-0 to the blues and would also not be concerned if Joe Hart wasn't selected, he's definitely gone off the boil and hasn't been at his best for some considerable time IMO.

Starting 11 is gonna be tough to predict.
I'm quietly buzzing about this one tho (game and season) bring it on!

3-0 to City. It's good that the players get an extra 2 days rest after those stupid international friendlies. Not good for us fans who have to wait 2 more days than a lot of other fans. I fully expect us to hit the ground running.

Two questions ...
Why haven't we sold this game out out yet?
Any plans for welcoming Pellegrini? Or expecting some to still be singing Oooh Mancini!

fucking monday night game is weak as shit.
really excited to get this season underway, I think pelligrini will have some surprises in store for us. All of our new signings have a chance to make a mark on the team this season, but i'm actually most interested to see what will happen with Rodwell. If he stays fit and keeps improving, I think he is the type of player that could be our engine for years to come.

Heir apparent to Yaya IMO, but has a couple of years of tutelage before he 's ready.

I'm guessing 'cos it's monday night and tickets will be expensive. How much are tickets? The opening game of last season was Category A (vs Southampton), and I had to pay over 50 quid for my ticket. Bought 3 tickets 3 or 4 days before the game in consecutive seats. Single seats were available here and there pretty much throughout the ground.

I had a nose last week and there were very, very few odd seats available. Then someone said they'd put the top away tier on sale to City fans, so I guess that's taking a day or 2.

When I looked there were only a few seats left in SS L2. £45 for adults and £45 for 16-17 year olds. Was thinking of taking my lad but not at over £100 for a game (with parking and food).
Season tickets are good value, individual games are a rip off.

All a bit fed up with Mr Ashley I think. Gone back to the pre-Keegan pre-Sir John Hall habits!
Just re-checked and indeed the whole stadium is red apart from these 3 blocks 213 214 and 215 which each have about a third still available.
So if anyone wants to take a family group or general lads group, get in now and sit together!!

I'd have Wright for Hart if he is going to play like that all season.

I think that at the start of the season with a view to my FFT but he always ends up at the top come the end of the season.
