Nothing more to add to that really. Some major underlying issues that need to be solved pronto. Engineer had learned NOTHING from Cardiff game.

Totally agree. It was a very shaky performance.
If i were Pelligrini, I would introduce a little bit more grit to the team. Play Milner from start, ffs. We also need a defensive midfiedler - at least until Kompany's back.
The defence is a shambles, but i don't see any quick fix for that with the injury situation we have. Garcia/Lescott or Nasty/Lescott are both weak partnerships.

Can you not close the match thread, so we don't go over old stuff over and over again?

Pelle now realizes this is not going to be a cakewalk. The system will take some time, but I have faith.

I'm glad you do pal. I thought we were gash and we're hiding behind a couple of special moments.
Can I ask what the score was between players today?

Poor, got away with some shite from Lescott & Nasty, too laboured, not enough closing down - positives were Negrado who not only looks like he knows where the net is, bags of confidence, but also organises others around him.

Let's not be lumping anything on Lescott today, he seemed a part of a back 1 at times.
Covering for Nastasic was a full time job.

Yaya and Fernandinho don't work well together.

Neither of them are as bad as they looked today. There are major issues regarding set up of that back four.

Nastasic was awful today. Regularly beaten in 1-on-1 situations. Unfortunately, that isn't anything new.
Lescott was a bit better, but does need a good partner alongside him. He's not someone to lead and galvanise the defence. We only have Kompany who can do that.
Hopefully Richards is back for the next game and we can play him with Lescott in the centre, until Kompany is fit.

He wasn't covering when the lad broke through 1:1 with Hart it was shite defending from Lescott - in his defence he's too left footed to play on the right of the two centre halves

I think we are too eager to send the fullbacks forward and we end up with a lot of space on the diagonals for them to play in behind and it does squeeze space too much for our actual attackers.
The problem as I saw it was Nastasic's lack of effort to get back on the line, twice we were played through the middle and the only one there was Lescott leaving a great hulking hole where Nastasic was supposed to be occupying space.

Agree with fullback thing.
Nastasic was poor today but we are talking about youngster who has been forced too early back to line up after his injury. Looked like he wasn't fully fit yet.

The back four are used to having some protection from the midfield. They are not getting it at the moment.
Milner in for Silva, who is not really contributing, and push Yaya forward. Maybe Milner can show enough responsibility to protect the back four if Gaz Barry is not going to be playing.

Lescott was gash in the first 20 but really too charge from then onwards. We were poor at the back early on but he stood up, even out of position (which I didn't get).
Now fuck off you Elephant Faced cunt, you need a peoper slap!
Not you Slim, of course.

There is an argument to be made for that and possibly other contributing factors, but based purely on performance he was the standout for me as the worst player. He had such a bright start last season as well.
There is a tailor made solution here surprisingly in Jack Rodwell. I think we are really hurting from the lack of a sitting midfielder and Jack is talented, young, strong and quick. I think he could really grow into that role and become a lynchpin of this team. It would either mean dropping Yaya Toure or a guy who just cost £30M, or the other option to play one up top and having four runners in behind Negredo or Dzeko.

I'm watching BT Sport (even though I'm paying for it and can't get the fucker over here) and I really like the way they are going at each other, there's no holds barred.
Just saying.
