Pure class lets hope he stays red card and injury free from now on, pivotal to the team. We're a different team when he is there exudes confidence throughout the side

One of the best individual performances since the takeovers - on par with Elano/Hamburg and De Jong/Chelsea.
Completely outplayed Rooney and co - the amount of times he and Fernandinho intercepted the ball, won tackles and stopped crosses was very, very impressive.

He was immense - first to absolutely everything.
Rooney just couldn't get into the game. Anytime the ball was passed or crossed into United's attacking third, Vinnie was there to intercept.
It's vital we keep him fit. We're a completely different prospect to face when he plays.

May I also say that Nasty was also playing really well. He stepped into challenges he usually shy back from and was playing more proactively. I think he will learn a lot from playing next to Vincent and that he will preform with a lot more confidence with the prince at his side.

What confused me was Neville afterwards saying how "He kept going through the back of Rooney" and that how nowadays you don't normally get away with that challange.
I can't remember him "going through the back" once. Can anyone recall?

Utter legend. Possibly the best centre half display I've ever seen.

It isn't just that Vinnie does the defending job supremely or doing all the organising and captaining, he has been working on that
pre-emptive stuff and his delivery out.
He spent a whole season trying and not getting the release ball right.. often just giving it right back to the oppo. But he has sorted it some now and THAT is what is making him not just a quality CB but a demon.
In the Plzen game he got a ball straight to Aguero that led to the first goal and changing of the game.
Yesterday Vinnie did it twice, the second one where he took his time did a mini step over in front of Fellatio and slotted it in front of Navas to run onto.. chased upfield and drew the rags defence to the near post and Nasri scored.
If Vinnie reads where he can dart in and win the ball, then he has the ball and has obviously to do something with it... and instead of just looking to pass it on to Yaya or a mid, he has been looking to set off an attack and he is starting to get it right.
Intercepting like he does leaves the oppo so flat footed it is almost criminal, his heritage as a midfielder allows him to not to panic once he has the ball.
Vinnie is a new breed of CB. If he can teach Nastasic to do similar then City will have turned the core of the defence into an attacking threat!
Cue other prem teams looking to train mids to be CBs. It could start a trend and tried to be copied.

Is there a better centre back in the world today?
