Sturridge's ebow

The ball clearly came off Sturridge's elbow for his "goal" today. How does he celebrate the way he did knowing how he'd scored? Talented player and a cheat.

He didn't celebrate ... he had worried looks and looked for the far side linesman ... and when he didn't give anything and ref gave the goal only then he went on to celebrate ... so yeah cheat of the highest order, he knew exactly what he'd done ... not knowing or not being sure is one thing but this one he knew exactly ... kind of admitted post match as well.

if that's about the goal, then yes he got away with it. As for the player, he's a greedy bastard and was turned by the lure of big money from Chelsea - if I remember right these were Frank days when any source of money seemed frozen awaiting some great thaw which never came. Plus he was never worth what his associates said he was worth paying at that stage in his development.

Any FACTS to back up those statements mate?

Remember how Leslie blatantly and persistantly kept giving game time to the much inferior, now imprisoned Ched Evans while Studge got splinters on the bench? He must have thought why da fuck should I stay here!

Who were his associates and how much were they saying he was worth paying?

There's been a lot of shite slung at Studge since he left. Some MAYBE justified but he's never slagged City since he left, unlike some other utter cunts not worth mentioning. Am I correct in saying that he refused to celebrate scoring against us?

If anyone has definitive facts then let's open them up on here. Otherwise don't slag a lad off who was one of our own eh..............

No facts but I heard he was after £60K per week and we said NO.

Re the use of his elbow,he didn't set out to use but just messed up his attempt to head the ball. What is he then supposed to do when it goes in? Is he expected to plead with the referee to NOT give the goal? Is there one City player who would do that?

Sturridge has not bad mouthed City in anyway. Good luck to the guy apart from when he plays against us. I remember he clapped the home fans when we played them at home last year, he still got booed no need to that really, and he didn't celebrate when he scored.

I wasen”t a fan of his, but i respect him a lot after the 2-2 early this year.

He could have celebrated like a fuck after he scored, knowing how he left us, but instead he kept his head down and walked away. For that i have only but respect.

Well both Sturridge and Evans made the same number of appearances for the first team in Hughes' season.

From memory; Sturridge looked great when coming on as a sub but struggled when he started, probably due to age, experience, strength etc. He refused to sign a new contract and then agreed to join Chelsea, mentioning better first team opportunities despite them having Drogba, Anelka and Gudjonsen at the time, whilst we had Evans, Jo, Bojinov etc.

He was a City player, he chose to leave. He wasn't sold, he didn't want to stay. Feel free to give him a cheer though, if you want.

Well Studge should have played twice the games that Evans did and since you mention it, how many times did Evans start a game in comparison to Studge?

Why would he want to stay after being made to play 2nd fiddle to one of Leslie's tafia bum boys? And yes he was sold. The clue there is that we got a fee for him after tribunal. The £60k per week he is rumoured to have asked for looks like fuckin chicken feed now doesn't it!

As I said earlier and others have supported, he has never dissed us and showed humility when he scored against us. I aint knocking a lad like that.

Erm, no he wasn't. When players under a certain age leave on a Bosman, their club can request a tribunal to decide compensation, not a transfer fee. This is based on a mix of future career trajectory, the amount of time spent at the club (we got a lower amount as he didn't come through the ranks from juniors, I recall) and the money and time invested in the player.

Not quite the same thing but when Zabaleta went down from a tackle in the penalty area on Saturday he immediately waved to the ref that he hadn't been fouled and it wasn't a penalty. But then Zaba is a mensch.

The Guardian at the time said:-

"Sturridge's situation is based more on finance – he turned down the offer of a new £45,000-a-week deal to open negotiations with Chelsea about joining them as a free agent. He would become the best-paid teenager in English football, with a weekly salary around £75,000."

This context was Hart going to Birmingham on loan to get 1st team football to push into England squad.

Sturridge uses an Ebow? Didn't really think he'd be a fan of synthetic violin bow sounds, or guitars for that matter, but that's a pleasant surprise.

As I pointed out, he looked poor in games he started. Evans looked much more capable of starting a game, probably as he was bigger. Sturridge seemed to tire more quickly than the defenders, but looked dangerous when he came off the bench due to his pace. He wasn't ready to start at that age and wasn't the season after at Chelsea. It wasn't until last season that he really came on as a striker, so why was he worth more than £45k a week?

Ireland looked a much better player, so how much should we have paid him?

And a BiB pointed out, we didn't sell him, otherwise there would have been no need for a tribunal. He left on a Bosman but was under 24, so we were entitled to compensation. But there was nothing we could do if he wanted to leave, which he did.

If I remember correctly his injuries occurred at times when he was likely to play. He would have got more starts than Ched but the timing of the injuries prevented this. Ched was in the right place at the right time.

So how many games did they each start?

Both had 3 league starts, Sturridge had 10 in all competitions, Evans 5.

So, I guess your claim was correct:
