The view from the away end

There seems to be a lot of optimism from scouse2 fans this week and probably justified. As much as I hate this fixture, I am taking comfort in three factors....It’s a home game, they no longer have Moyes in charge, and surely after the last two games, the teams will go balls out for convincing win?

To start with, as always, their team selection:

Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Mccarthy Gibson
Osman Barkley Mirallas
Lukaku

And a little bit of common sense:

A lot depends on which City team turns up, world beaters on their day but very beatable when not, especially when we are on it

Here are some more words of wisdom.....Enjoy!

Don’t know what to think of this tbh. Part of me says that we could shock a lot of people with the quality we showed against Newcastle but another part of me says they will probably have a little too much for us to handle. Be interesting to see how Lukaku does against a WC CB like Kompany though. Looking forward to it.

I'd take a draw but I honestly think we have a chance against most teams home or away with an improved team and a plan B. City blow hot and cold. Lets us hope it is the latter on Saturday.

Looking forward to what will be a real test for the new look Blues.

Not feeling too pessimistic myself, even if I don't dislike Pellagrini as much as I disliked Mancini, or Hughes

Really depends which Everton team comes out to play following on from the Newcastle game... the team in the 1st half, or the one in the 2nd. Or the team that came on 2nd half against West Ham or the team that played Fulham. We can't seem to string some consistency together. But here's hoping they've sorted that out, I'm hoping we can nick this by one goal.

Against Man City I think Lukaku could do most of his damage when the city player have 60min in their legs following a game against Bayen Munich rather than from the start. The city type games as when we Martinez earns his corn as a manager - fingers crossed, but I would settle for a draw now.

we already beat Chelsea a fighter team..City it will be easy time.,,compare all Bayer vs Chelski / Bayer vs City matches, if we score first job done.

Our last 6 visits to Man City have produced 4 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.
Our last 12 matches have resulted in 9 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses.
I therefore conclude that if City play well, they might just sneak a draw, and it's time to remember how good we are and kick their arses yet again

City are good, however we've got the wood on them I think and currently we're well capable of carrying the run of good results even further

After last night "Shoot from anywhere" might be a good instruction.

Bound to be a reaction after the footballing lesson by Bayern. Hopefully they are still shell shocked.

A lot depends on which City team turns up, world beaters on their day but very beatable when not, especially when we are on it

Do they not have a glass defence, this City lot? I'm sure I read that somewhere, maybe even in the Daily Mail. It should be a great match, if Lukaku, Mirallas, Barkley and Deulofeu are on the pitch. Can't wait. Man City 2, Everton 3.

0-3 mirallas will destroy them on the counter while we soak up the pressure

Martinez knows how to beat em, take it to em they can’t handle it Everton will be too solid for the full 90mins not 45
hopefully pienaar be back soon. think am the only one rates him these days

Defo a draw would be a great result. Despite the good win the other night I never felt really comfortable, even at 3-0 up. We just didn't seem to press Newcastle hard enough when they were on the ball and if we let City come at us we'll be in trouble.

I thought we might have a slight advantage with City playing Bayern tonight and then an early kick off Saturday…..but if there’s one squad this wouldn’t effect its city……..their team against Villa on Saturday was without Silva & Aguero (who are now back from injury), and had Navas, Jovetic, Lescott, Clichy, Richards & Garcia on the bench…..

Trust the recent stats on this one....city is shiting the pants facing Everton..they wish they had another derby game then us...

Man City haven't really got going yet and are inconsistent but their home form looks good, out of their first 4 games (incl League Cup) they've scored 15 goals and made Man United look amateurish.

Both us and city have a suspect defense so far so expect goals.

With no Barry away from home I can't see us coming away with more than a draw so my prediction is 2-2, Barkley first goal scorer.
I hope we've learnt lessons so far this season and approach the game as we did against Chelsea.

Our defence is our weakest area, possibly more so this year because at times we just pass it around defence so we're asking more of our defenders.

We've conceded more than Southampton, enough said!

Correct, although Tottenham have only conceded 2, the same as Southampton. Arsenal have conceded more than us, and where are they in the League? I can't see a problem with our back four, that cannot be sorted with a bit of practice- all of our defenders are top class players. Do City have a forward who can outrun Distin?

Let City be scared of us

Given their record against us they have every reason to be confident - they have 9 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses in our last 12 encounters?
They must want to play us every week but I think that, provided we have a proper goalie on the pitch, we'll stuff 'em on Saturday and they'll be lucky to get a draw against us in the next 12 games because that jinx is dead - that duppy is truly conquered.
Please don't question my logic - just believe eh!
