This Januzaj Lad?

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Oct 09, 2013 4:02 pm

Now don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the lad but why are all the media getting so tied-up with a lad who's had a few starts and scored a couple of goals against a club who is bottom of the league?

Looking at his appearances he has come off the bench for 3 short spells when the Rags were already winning and once when they were drawing but went on to lose after he came on.

Then the Sunderland game where he was nowhere until a quite simple finish followed with a not so extraodinary volley. Then all this hype, why?

From what I've seen of him he's not been in the melting pot and probably how it should be for somebody his age yet we are now hearing that he is the future of the Rags and the saviour of English football! Is he really that good?

What seems strange is that his name started getting banded about this season and it's as if the Rag PR has gone into overdrive to announce the second coming, of who I'm not sure. What I'm sure of is that this lad is young and has now been exposed to a media wankfest that is far more than his actual talent has shown. The problem now is that everytime he is seen it will be all about Januzaj and how he is now the 'New This' and 'New That', pressure that should not be bestowed upon one so young.

To be honest, I'd never really heard of the lad even though his name had been mentioned yet now he is the eye of the nation. Will he really want to play for England in the next few years or would he want to play for an upcoming team like Belgium, his home nation?

I just don't get it and can only put it down to Rag PR and the media falling over themselves to paint a rosey story at the Swamp where the reality is that things aren't as well as seems and if they are pinning their future on an 18 year old who they imported from abroad, surely things are worse than than we originally thought.

I was working with a load (approximately 15, plus 3 or 4 Kosovans) of Albanians at the weekend. Most of them don't even see him as the saviour of Albanian football (although they are admittedly proud he scored for the Rags), and he's already eligible to play for them, so I don't really know why the BBC got its knickers in a twist...

They signed Fellaini in the summer enough said - the scum biased press are desperate for the slightest inkling of good news for them after the clown performance in their summer transfer 'dealings' even to the point of saying he may be able to play for England so they can pretend he's a hone grown player!

In a strange way, is this kind of lumping pressure on him to stay at the Rags, for minimal cost? Look at what's happened to the last few sensations such as Pogba, Frei (?), Morrison et al who have all left for various reasons but many leaving because the Rags refuse to give them even an inckling of a decent deal. By putting him in the limelight and having the whole of the media licking his bals maybe the Rag PR machine is there to just bring the cost down going into contract negotiations?

Who knows but one thing throughout this period is constant, the Rag PR juggonaut is on full throttle.

Personally I hope they think he is the answer to all their prayers (together with Phil Jones, the new Duncan Edwards) and therefore decide not to bother signing anyone else.

What it is, is that the rags are all average and him being 18 has stuck out. They need to rally behind something because they have no creativity and no transfers either.

It's to a point where it's incredibly annoying to see stuff about this kid--media overkill. He scored two goals vs the worst team in the league. Who cares. They don't mention his prior first team appearance where he was dreadful.

This contract bump he's getting is everything that's wrong with football. Now he thinks he's the shit and doesn't need to get better. What a crock.

Let the media jizz all over this lad. United are going to be a much poorer side this, next & for a few seasons until they realise Gollum is not the answer. I'm more concerned with Chelsea (Oscar, Hazard, Lukaku, Willian, Schurrle, Mata all gelling in next couple of years. Arsenal signing ozil could see them cone back into the reckoning as well and Spuds/Dippers have got better squads now & all of these are more of a threat than the rags.

So? Just because Macheda didn't make it doesn't mean no one will.
And Macheda never looked that good. He had one well taken goal against Villa but that was about it. Januzaj looks quality and has the POTENTIAL to be a very good player.

But also let's remember how the media and our fans were about Michael Johnson. The next Colin Bell, future England captain etc.

It happens to every promising young player and if Janizaj was one of our own we'd all be going on about him like the Rags are now.

I don't think it is this time. This lad is out of contract at the end of the season. United are trying to balance giving him playing time and keeping him under the radar. All the media speculation is doing is raising his profile, not what united want at all.

He is a good player and has always impressed when I have seen him, would be a major blow if Utd did not sign him after all the media hysteria

His two goals masked a poor performance , It has also got Moyes a nice break from the stick prior to the international break.

Feel a bit sorry for the lad - talk about piling pressure on him, wouldn't be surprised if he cracked in some way. I expect him to be the subject of one of those "Where did it all go wrong" articles in ten years time

He'll be opening a bakery somewhere by the time he's 26. You heard it here first.
