Newcastle United v Manchester City
Wednesday 30th October 2013

Referee: Neil Swarbric
Assistants: Lee Betts and Derek Eaton
Fourth Official: Michael Jones

I for one am glad I won't have to see Hart in between the sticks this game (for sure) ... unless Pelligrini has made the switch already and will be keeping Panti for Premier League and CL games and Hart will start in the CapitalOne Cup ...

This suddenly becomes a bit more important.
Want to see Jovetic, Pantillimon, Richards, Kolarov, Lescott, Boyata and Lopes being given some game time. Mix that in with the likes of Milner/ Navas and those who were rested at the weekend and that should be enough to see us through.

With our erratic lge form on display this comp represents one of the 2 things we can realistically win this season.

I do hope we take it seriously and dont piss it away.

So many are taking the league cup easily, as far as I know it's still considered as a trophy! We have a big squad and so many players that are not given enough minutes this season. Let's try and win it all!

Our squad is capable of rotation whilst still putting out a strong 11.

Hart definitely needs a rest, and I'm sick of seeing Garcia and Nastasic in the side every week so hopefully all 3 are dropped for this game (as well as further upcoming games).

Dzeko and Jovetic should start up front with Aguero and Negredo on the bench just in case.

LeagueCup is more of a trophy than the CommunityShield which that clown won over there and was branded as his first trophy for the scum ... I'm still gutted about letting them win that by playing Wigan, this is a bigger deal surely ...

Sides like Newcastle take this cup very seriously so we better not think just showing up will mean a win and progression on to the next stage ...

league cup is the 3rd most important domestic trophy so I want us to take it seriously and win the thing. Obviously it won't be the same team that played Chelsea but we have a good enough squad to field a team capable of beating Newcastle.

Which Dzeko will we get ?

I want & expect to see the fired up version who plays to prove the manager wrong & to get selected for the upcoming games. Like Tevez did every time in LC games under Ferguson. I don't mind if he misses a few chances, I just want to see 100%.

Same with Lescott, Jovetic etc. 100%.

Don't care about mistakes, I want to see the right attitude; make themselves difficult to ignore.

Re Pants though; I do care about mistakes! Want to see none of them & a true challenge to Hart.

He's had plenty of chances and has never shown anywhere near the commitment of Negredo or Aguero. We have to accept he'll have a reasonable scoring record but will offer absolutely nothing outside of goals.

I agree with you. It's only his goals that have saved him from being one of our worst ever signings.

Sorry mate but that's just simply bollocks.
If we wanted to sign a grafter up front back then we would've just taken Dickov back. Dzeko was signed to score goals, which he has done.

Agreed. Fucking pisses me off when our league cup challenge goes down the drain as it's not being taken seriously and later on you end up the season without a trophy.

Lopes just tweeted he's injured. That's a real shame as I was looking to see more of the kid.
