Champions league qualification

Postby anthonytomo » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:33 pm

Excuse my ignorance but I can't be arsed reading through all the rules about head to heads, etc. Basically, can we qualify against Moscow? We would be on 9 points if we win, them on 3 with only two games left, am I right in thinking we would go through seeing as we would of beat them twice?

Couple more wins v cska & pleznen would also help our coefficient in Europe. Good chance we'll be pot 2 next year. Also the sooner we're through the sooner we can concentrate on Prem again

That's what I thought, thank you. Better coefficient would be a bonus, had some pretty shitty draws haven't we.

Would be nice to already be through and put out a 2nd string in the remaining games. We can rest people who need it.

Barring a disaster we should qualify tuesday by beating cska.

IMF, lol that's the easy way out. Firstly we haven't yet qualified, so that's where the question gets interesting

Would be great if we can qualify on Tuesday, and have the option of rotating the squad a bit for the last 2 games.

Although getting good results is very important in the last 2 games to boost our coefficient as mentioned above. I think it's 2 coefficient points for a win if we are to minimise the chance of a 'Group of Death' in future seasons we need to get into the second pot of seeds as quickly as possible.

We were pot 2 last year. Didn't work out too kindly for us but you're right the odds favour us more in terms of easier draw the higher we're ranked.
