The FA's of the big football nations should grow a pair of bollox and threaten to bycott the Russian World cup, discrace of a nation when it comes to equality and, as you say, the fact they tried to pretend it wasnt racial and now refuse to apologise pretty much sums that country and the population up to a tee.

Of course they wont, Rusia does what the fuck it wants as UEFA and FIFA are toothless to stop them, I suspect they bend over constantly whilst accepting nice hand outs from non-dubious Rusian buisnessmen.

What gets me about the whole racism issue is the exaggeration claims. They deny it happened and then say it was exaggerated, if something didn't happen then how can you exaggerate it? How does one exaggerate racism anyway? it's either racism or it isn't.

Your guiding premis is wrong because racism is what is perceived in the main and cultural differences mean that there are as many perceptions as there are cultures and a myriad of minor nuances between. I jest not when I say that it isn't black and white.
Different cultures develop at different speeds and I'd guess that, as a comparator, Russia is probably where the UK was in the early 1970's . . . we can look back and know that our national attitude was unacceptedly racist at that time (the BBC was openly racist), we can note that we've made changes for the better since but we have not erradicated racism from the UK . . as you will note when you read all the anti-muslim sentiment presently put out by our own government never mind the BNP etc.

It's easy to see that the CSKA management are wrong in what they say but their opinions are flavoured by the national attitude in Russia and that's where their fault lies but I feel that will improve with the media focus of the world cup and, in any event, they actually shine compared to some USA states where racism remains culturally embeded even now.

I don't want this thread to turn political, but I will say that Russia is quite fantastically screwed up. Football aside, I don't believe they should be permitted to host the Olympics or Formula 1 either.

Anyway, I just saw this on the BBC, they are starting early !

Statement from easyJet after a flight travelling from Moscow to Manchester was forced to divert to Denmark to eject drunken passengers on Sunday.

An easyJet spokesman told the BBC: "We can confirm that flight EZY1872 flying from Moscow Domodedovo to Manchester on November 3 diverted to Copenhagen airport due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board. One passenger was immediately offloaded on arrival.

"Unfortunately, prior to take off, it was necessary for the captain to take the decision to offload a further six passengers. The aircraft then continued towards Manchester where it landed with a short delay.

"The safety and welfare of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and easyJet would like to thank the passengers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The Manchester Evening News reported that the flight was carrying Russian football fans to Manchester for Tuesday's Champions League clash between Manchester City and CSKA Moscow.
