Hardly a surprise. We had this with last years Calf injury that he originally did in December 2012, and was basically gone until March 2013 with lots of "it'll be 2 more weeks" statements.

This year its the groin, "sigh" and he's basically been injured since the opening day save for thankfully playing in the derby and at Plzen. From both the major calf and groin injuries over the past year, he's come back and broken down again with the same injury again.

Our most pivotal player is made of glass, which is why being so reliant on him is complete folly. We need a top top class centre halve in January, not a stop-gap like Demichelis. We cant go on waiting for Kompany to be fit all the time, and need to have a contingency plan for his injuries which are all too frequent.

If the aforementioned centre halve could be a leader on the pitch too, that would be great. Too many Indians and not enough Chiefs on the field at present. I have no idea who this centre halve is but he will be out there, and there are plenty better qualified than me at City who's job it is to find him and sign him before our season disappears further down the toilet bowl.

i'm with the belgians on this one
fix things don't patch them up as the latter always proves more costly

Apparently he had a 2nd injury in his thigh that has set him back. Great player but he isn't any good to us on the treatment table.

That's not what their doctor is saying at all.

"I think Vincent is going to be ready in several weeks," said Messchalck. "We will do everything we can to bring back Vincent in a good way for a long time.

"First of all he had a rupture, a tear into the abductor and then also he has bad luck with a small thing on the front side now, so it's everything together.

"It's not really so long, eight weeks is nothing in the time of injury, you must respect biology."

Hes getting into the Darren Anderson bracket - we cant rely on him at all.
Need a top class replacement in January and then maybe (depending on any more fucking injuries that he has between now and then) sell him in the summer whilst we can get top dollar for him.

He actually fucks me off with his constant injuries.

Made of glass.

Love him, but honestly....we need two world class CBs between now and next summer, otherwise we're just pissing in the wind.

Vinnie will be on the outside of our best CB pairing within a year at the current rate. He's just one of "those" players who can't stay fit.

Sad. I bet he's even more gutted than we are.

The problem as I see it, is that I don't trust people in football to actually know what a centre back is anymore. They just swap one big clueless posing pillock for another, instead of trying to build a proper defensive backline that actually defends.

And half the people on here think that's the way to go.

If Don Howe, Tony Adams & Keown had David Luiz coming through as a kid at Arsenal, the bloke would be fucking awesome now. He's big strong fast & good in the air, but he has no fucking idea what defending is, same as 90% of people who work in & watch football.

One day someone will catch on how to defend again & build a team which does it, & then all these useless fucking so called 'footballing' centre backs will be back in the dustbin.

Paul Futcher would be worth a fucking fortune these days.

And to think he could have been Barcelonas injury problem and not Citys.

Fair point, Ted. But not Paul Futcher! He was better than Ron, but that is not saying a lot. Now, Dave Watson......insert any price tag you like. He was fantastic.

Agree on Dave Watson, who would be worth £25m plus in todays market.

Paul wasnt bad but was painfully slow on the turn. Ron was a poor mans Wyn Davies.

Agree we need a new centre half in Jan. We may need two if Vinnys injury problems don't improve. A new left back is a must as well. The problem will be would have 3 new players trying to gel at the business end of season and exactly who will we get in Jan? It is not a month renowned for major transfers. Buying a stop gap would be a waste of time as they would not be better than Lescott. The best hope may be if Lescott perfoms in training and forces his way back into Pellers plans.

Selling Vinny is daft. He loves the club and this season may just be o one off. He is still the best centrehalf in the Prem when fit.
