Thing is, in a hot run of form, the lad wants to play and fair enough - he is on for a golden boot in the champs league so long as we don't go out too early, so why not let him start the game, play 60 mins or so.

Regardless of the reason for the sub, he had taken a knock at the end of the first half, and it was a risk, but we can't wrap him in cotton wool

Exactly, pointless. Why Guidetti didn't come on on Sunday and not on the bench tonight is unbelievable. As is the fact that that wanker Dzeko ever gets a game.

but with the a VERY VERY small chance of us topping this group before today's match, I dont see why we should risk him.
with us progressing in the CL, the emphasis should shift to the premier league for now and we need Aguero for that.

Kolarov was originally on the bench on Sunday then pulled out as he was unwell, so I guess Guidetti was a very late call. Would have been good to give him 5 mins though and we had a spare sub.

He wasn't named in the CL squad so couldn't play tonight

i disagree with you. His rich vein of form needs to be curated with an eye towards keeping him both on song AND fresh, and imho that's what a runout like today does.

This "rest" bollocks is sometimes for the birds i think. Fuck rest. Players want to play, homie. Let 'er rip.

cheers

jimmy m was interviewed on talksport on monday am and the buffoon brazil asked if kun was as shit hot in training as he has been on the pitch this season. jimmy laughed and said that mr aguero takes his foot off the gas in training sessions (maybe doug can confirm?) so it would seem match days is when he hones his skills...

It was important we won that one for our UEFA coeffecient in future years to move up the pots and hopefully avoid "groups of death." We've got Bayern away next, followed by home and away to a group winner, (eg. PSG, RM, Barca, etc.)
That was our last "easy" CL game. Aguero loves to play and score, he was our best player in the first half.

If Kun really does wanna be one of the world's best then he has to be able to play through pretty much all the games anyway. Ronaldo and Messi play pretty much every game they are available regardless, cos they're that good. I'd much rather keep Aguero in a positive frame of mind, and if that means 45 minutes then so be it.

Maybe to keep his run of scoring going? Plus we need to win champions league games for UEFA point scoring thingy.

I have to agree 100%, keep him happy and banging in the goals. He could be the golden boot of the champs league at the rate hes going.
