We need a new Keeper

When Brian Clough took over at Forest, just about the first thing he did was to buy Peter Shilton for what seemed at the time an outrageous fee. Shilton subsequently made a big difference in them winning the League and European Cups.
To me both our current keepers have the potential to lose us one or more trophies - and one may already have done so.
So if we want to be the best team in Europe, the best team in the world - forget centre backs, left backs and midfielders - we need a top goalie in January. Word on the journo street (Sunday Supp) is that Pellegrini doesn't really fancy Hart long term, whilst after Saturday I'm not sure anyone could fancy the giant one.
Anyone agree?

We need Hart to return to the form of 2010-2012.
If he cant, then I agree we need a new keeper. Joe on form is tip top, but he hasnt been in that sort of form for too long now. Id have him back in now, and we can see over the next 6 games if hes back to anything like his best.

For such a big man panti has been poor with crosses. He hasn't been as composed as he should, I don't think he is the answer. If joe can't get him form back, it will be time to go shopping.

I admire your confidence and hope you are right. But the team must come first over his feelings and by the time we find out it may be too late!

What do you mean by "over his feelings"? What has that got to do with anything?
I'm hoping he regains his form, no guarantees though, that said by all accounts he's got his head down and worked hard to get himself right again, can't ask for much more. If it proves not to be enough then I agree we'll have to go to the market, hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Some folk think we shouldn't hurt people's feelings by leaving them out! :-)

Some folk need their heads testing if that's the case.

Correct.
Getting Joe back in form should be the priority number one. That's why we have goalkeepers coach I assume. Time to earn his wages.

You can only find out if Joe (or any keeper) is in form by playing him in the first team. Training will show effort and attitude but cannot replicate the real thing.I suspect the question we have is whether Pellegrini fancies Joe at all.If not he will be lining someone up on the grounds Joe might be on his way.If Joe is brought back he will need another keeper as Costel will be on his way.

Spot on Doug.
After last Saturday Ive seen enough of Costel. The first goal was debatable though he was decidedly flat footed, the second one he goes for with his wrong hand - same corner he conceded against Sonton too, whilst that mickey mouse punch in the first half when the ball was chest high could have cost us a goal.
Joe has served his punishment, and deserves another shot at regaining his form. with the games coming thick and fast over the next 4 weeks he hopefully should have time to prove hes the man and our normal pecking order is restored.

Still not sure about Joe. Costel has done a decent job for me so far.
If we do need a new goalkeeper, the guy from Inter looks the business to me, arguably one of the best goalkeepers around at the moment.

Has he? I may be doing him an injustice but my mum could've walked over and stopped the first one on Saturday and she's 83. And as for those 'punches'..................

Yeah, i think we would need a new one. But let”s face it, there is only one name we all think of, and that is Casillas. But what are the chances of us doing that? Almost zero? I think he is the type of player like De Rossi.
I pray to god we won”t have a go at Valdes, he is worst than Joe.
There is a name i think we will have a go and that is Willy Caballero from Malaga, Peller”s ex keeper and a pretty good one imho.

This is the main problem really, i dont think anyone in the premiership is up to the job, so we would need to find someone special that i dont know is out there.
I think the best option is to work with Hart.

Agreed. Lets take Hart and hope he morphs back into a world class goalie

Joe will be back in the team and on form in no time I'm sure of it. You don't lose all the good attributes that made you one of the best keepers in the world, you just go through a slump in form and bounce back. I'm confident he'll be back where he was and our keeper for years to come.

Joe hasn't become an awful keeper all of sudden. Anyone with any footballing knowledge can see that Joe is FAR superior a keeper to Panti (and almost every other keeper in the league) and simply made some mistakes as all keepers do, hence lost some confidence. Dropping him was as much to get him out of the spotlight as it was due to his form.
Every keeper has a mare at some point in their career. This is his. Bring him back for the Fulham game, and I'm pretty confident he'll be our number one again for a number of years.
