a 2-1 defeat at York left us in 12th place in the old third division.
Worth keeping in mind as we look forward to taking on Barcelona in the Champions League!

We're very very lucky....not just to have the team we have now but to actually still exist as a club.

What a season that was! It was a big year for me, spent a lot of the previous year away and then moved abroad as the season started. The York game was the lowest point but was followed up with back-to-back wins which set us on the road to Wembley. I think we only lost 2 games for the rest of the season(?).
Who'd have thought though, from Bootham to Premier League Champions in such a short period, from Maine Road to the Etihad and Campus.
As Forest would say, 'Life is like a box of chocolates, you just don't know what you're going to get'.
Being a Blue really has been like being strapped into a rollercoaster. The problem was that there weren't any real thrills last time, it was more like the wheels were edging off the track and the breaks were nearly shot, it looked like it'd never stop.
But now, what can we say?
The Future's Bright, The Future's Blue.

Definitely the worst moment of my long football life.

I don't know mate. Relegation from the 1st was a real low point as well. Drawing against QPR in our penultimate game, who finished a point above us, was a bit of a killer. As always, there was still hope going into the last game where we went on to win and all we needed was one of the other 3 above us to lose. They all won, our fate was sealed.

A real season 'of two halves', that one. The first half was depressing. Then I went to my first away game for years at Wrexham, because I have a mate who supports them, and it all seemed to get better, although it was the following game at home against Stoke I think when we started to perform.
The second half was actually fun, as we built up some momentum and I visited a few new grounds. No words for the play off final!

Think my low point was when we were struggling to scrape together the £80,000 needed to buy some pub player from Huddersfield who I'd never heard of. That felt like we'd reached rock bottom.
Thank god we managed to get that money together.

I get the "look how far we've come" angle but how much longer are we going to harp on about the 3rd division days? Think its time we stopped the looks back it in myself, as it still makes me bloody cringe.

I loved that season and we got our revenge with a 4-0 thumping of them. Went to every league game home and away and most of the cup ones as well (short lived runs that they were) as Hutch said it was a season 'of two halves'. I enjoyed the "every game a cup final" and old school standing up away ends. A season I'll never forget or even want to forget. It's stuff like that defines City fans (pre lottery win) for me.

I definitely enjoyed the 2nd half of it & the comeback at Wembley was beyond the imagination.
When we lost to York though , it only registered a 'meh' from me because we were so shit at that point, nothing remotely surprised me.

It was only 15 years ago. It's therefore in memory for most City fans. My two favourite chants are 'we never win at home' and 'invisible man' as they refer back to a period in our history and show we've still got a sense of humour. How many rags would celebrate being relegated at the point they're champions?

This is part of our 'istree' (which we get told doesn't exist) & it's just as worthy of mention as any Champions League efforts by rags or scousers: the way the club & the fans pulled together from that day & dragged us out of the shit.
It's a fantastic story & something those superior cunts have never experienced, & if Utd or Liverpool are ever put in that position, after years of winning fuck all whilst their neighbours win everything, they will go out of fucking business.
It's something we should always remember & be proud of our efforts in turning it round.

In the back of the mind there is always the inherent ingrained fear that we might end up back there or closer to there, one day.

And they wonder why we're over the blue moon about facing Barca, they don't understand taking on the best because you want to beat the best.
