BBC bias again

If you go to BBC teletext, to page 302, football headlines (Sat 7am), the stories are as follows:

Liverpool boss Rogers charged by FA

Saints unhappy with Clattenburg ruling

Manchester United v Swansea City

FA Cup previews Ar-Gr

FA Cup previews Ips-Yeo

There doesn't seem any depth to which these RAG-promoters wont go, as there is no earthly reason why this match should be singled out. It's not on BBC, it's not even on Saturday and it's not the tie of the round (Arsenal). Bizarre

Reality is mate, they are still the biggest box office - now whilst there is no commercial imperative to chase the audience with the BBC, they do still have to cater for the masses, and those masses are unfortunately rags.

Having said that, I would have expected a preview of the early kick off to be the main story after the news

Early kick off?

Unfortunately moving the BBC to Salford docks has just allowed the rag fans to bill their travel to the theatre of comedy as a work expense covered by pretend meetings !

On New Years Eve I checked the BBC web site for the NYD games. Only the rags were mentioned in an article about their game.

Eventually they added thr A*se game , Scouse2's game and the Chelsea game.

The only reference to the City game was on New years day as the game was starting in their live ticker section.(Happy New Year btw).

It just goes on and on - people suggest paranoia and this example is not a 'major example' - but they are just so numerous.

The only way it will change though is a sustained period of them not being in a strong position results wise and for others (us ideally) to overtake them on the field - even then it will take many years

There is some light on the horizon though. I have spent a few weeks in Cyprus so have seen a lot of games on Al Jazeera - a media outlet that will have more impact on global audience than the BBC - and maybe even SKY. When I see them advertising forthcoming games or reviewing those played I am seeing much more balance - wonder if the Sheikh has any influence? They are generally shown in clips after 'the main players this year' - and CITY gets a lot of prominence. this will at least impact audiences of the future.

Have u seen the 'Bein Sports' stuff that started on New Year's Day, every sport, every game

These fuckers are taking over sports broadcasting - in terms of broadcasting in the UK, they are pretty much ready to go

Yes - I am lucky enough to have an account - I think that there is a strategic drive here which might catch SKY out

We seem to be ghosts to the media. On talksport the other day they were talking about the top of the table. We barely got a mention. You would have thought it was between chelsea and arsenal. Even uniteds prospects were evaluated before sonebody said "dont discount city".....

Let's hope so. But to be honest, I'd rather have The Disney Channel than Sky, given it has a higher factual content.

The rags get a mention as they're at home and therefore likely to lose.

As for us not being mentioned amongst title contenders, good as it keeps the pressure off.

I do have an issue with the BBC showing bias, since we all pay for it. For Sky, Talkshite etc, they're private and can promote who they want. I think they may be backing the wrong horse, though.

If you look at how Sky get their money, you might not subscribe yourself, but if you go to the pub to watch a game, or even drink in a pub that would show one normally, part of what you spend goes to Sky. If you buy insurance, shop at Tescos or anyone else who advertises on the telly or radio you are contributing.

It's not so obvious with private companies, but Joe Public pays for them as much as the BBC.

However, I will go along with the idea that the BBC is supposed to set standards - and sometimes it doesn't.

It was like that the summer after we won the league. denial.
Like most though I dont want brown tongues, just balance and credit when deserved. Its still grudging even now, or as an afterthought.
