Best and worst January signings

Obviously Torres and Carroll are up there with the worst. I'd argue Dzeko was a good January signing as 50 goals in 3 years is a cracking return for a what's turned out to be a back up. Samaras was a dud for us, especially at £6m.

The fact that not many names are tripping off the tongue suggests the window has had its day as not much business is actually done. Would it be better to have just the summer to do business or go back to the old way? I'd prefer the old way myself

I'm not sure they were window signings per se (both may have been free agents), but Ball and Mpenza were two excellent signings by Pearce under the circumstances. Both played a vital role in getting us out of of spot of bother we found ourselves in at the start of 2007.

Pizarro more recently. Suárez for Liverpool - in a different (long-term) sense, mind.

Bellamy, De Jong and Given were all very good signings for us and played their part in our rise. Bridge.. the less said the better. Adam Johnson had his moments but ultimately wasn't consistent enough. Vieira was quite useful for us and played his part, especially in the cup run. Pizzaro aswell did okay in the games he's played.

Dzeko as you say is one to divide opinions but he's scored 50 goals in 3 seasons including some hugely important ones so ultimately that was a succesful signing.
Going back to Sven. Benjani was a bit of a panic buy and was a bit crap but Caicedo was actually decent for us in the second half of Hughes's first season.
Overall we haven't done too bad in this market in recent years.

Dejong though a great player for us was a poor buy financially. Out of contract in 6 months yet we spend £16 on him. Bellers was a superb purchase

True, but he scored the winner at the swamp, so he's forgiven.

He tried to head it and it went in off his shoulder! Sums him up.

Shrek tried to hit the ball with his foot and it hit his shin and went in.

Some fucking idiots were calling it the greatest premier league goal ever.

Go figure.

The fact it came off his shin means fuck all. If you want to disect every goal in the same manner, you could come to the same conclusion - of course most efforts end up in the stands, but this one didn't.

If Tevez had scored this.... fucking WOW.

That's hypocrisy of almost NQDP-esque proportions!

But who lost if it just took him three quarters of the match to search for the quotes though?

No, it was the 2-1 at the swamp. Vassell scored the first. Benjani wasn't even here when the home derby was played & Geovanni scored the winner.
