It's a good tried-and-tested formula for mid-table clubs to bring in La Liga experts. The clubs there are financially fucked and their best players are ripe for picking on the cheap. It's all about knowing who these players are, as was the case with Laudrup and Michu.

Closer to home, Negredo and Navas for a combined £30 million was excellent business on our part.

He did well at Rayo who are a tiny club in the shadow of Real, Atleti and even Getafe. Much of his work helped get them to where they are now.

Besides which, they've only given him eighteen months. Let him sign a couple of top-class bargains and, if he turns out to be shite, ditch him without having to fork out loads of compo.

It actually makes sense to me. WBA aren't going down regardless.

Hardly! They didn't even bag Fellaini at the 'bargain' price of £23 million. They're monetary masochists.
