I think it's like an old county boys team from my youth. Where you had to be around a while and move in the right circles to get in the squads.

She certainly got credits from the commentators in the title-winning league match.

Thanks for that. I'm guessing that's quite a tough draw as they are seeded.

Congratulations to MCWFC on winning the league. Whole league campaign unbeaten after coming back from a goal down at the weekend to get a draw against Birmingham.

Absolutely.

Apart from going through the season unbeaten, which is most creditably noteworthy in itself, the defensive statistics in particular were highly impressive.

A superb achievement all round.

Absolutely and the goal conceded this weekend was a penalty

Fantastic achievement from the women's team and a fantastic season all round.

Fantastic news for the players and coach, but wider congratulations go to the club for providing a separate stadium as part of the campus and allowing the women to use the same facilities as the men.

Amen to that BJ.

As an aside, two of the girls (or should that be women, although personally I'd prefer the term 'ladies') were on BBC's breakfast programme this morning (one of them was Steph Houghton) and they were there with the two trophies they've won.

Couldn't believe how big the trophies were; they were massive and really impressive looking. It almost looked as though it would take a couple of people to carry each of them.

Made the old Jules Rimet trophy seem minute by comparison (which I suppose it was really).

It's awesome. Considering how fast it's gone it seems the sky's the limit for the team. Long may it continue.

No British women featured on FIFA's shortlist of 10 for best player of 2016. Infact all 10 come from five clubs.

it's par for the FIFA course, they are a stain on the game.

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was founded in the rear of the headquarters of the Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques at the Rue Saint Honoré 229 in Paris on 21 May 1904. The French name and acronym are used even outside French-speaking countries. The founding members were the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain (represented by Madrid Football Club; the Spanish federation was not created until 1913), Sweden and Switzerland. Also, that same day, the German Association declared its intention of affiliating through a telegram.

There's the problem. The laws of football were set in Manchester in 1886 - the Frogs and their neighbours take over 18 years later and corruption sets in.

The women have just set a new British record for average attendance (in the league) with 2253 - the first women's team to average more than 2k. (and up by 50% on last season). I think the new schedule will help increase it further when it kicks in - there's more scope for tying fixtures in with the Men's team if the women's FA is open minded and spots an opportunity.

Watching on fb and one of the girls just went round the keeper and had an open goal gaping only to take an unneeded touch and get tackled. Very very poor.

If it was keira Walsh that missed it she certainly made up with a 30 yard stunner. Very very good.

Great save from Bardsley at the end to keep it at 1-0. Great goal. What a hit that was.

It was Jane Ross the top scorer in the team and the women's league but it was a shocker of a miss.
