Well deserved and the only real choice.

Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini wins manager of month
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been named Barclays Premier League manager of the month for December.

Pellegrini's side, who are currently one point behind leaders Arsenal, were unbeaten during the month, picking up six wins and a draw to earn the 60-year-old the award for the first time.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez picked up the Barclays player of the month award.

The 26-year-old scored 10 goals last month, including a four-goal haul in the 5-1 thrashing of Norwich.

Manchester City's Premier League matches in December

•1 December v Swansea (H) won 3-0
•4 December v West Brom (A) won 3-2
•7 December v Southampton (A) drew 1-1
•14 December v Arsenal (H) won 6-3
•21 December v Fulham (A) won 4-2
•26 December v Liverpool (H) won 2-1
•28 December v Crystal Palace (H) won 1-0

Pellegrini's team entered December on the back of a 6-0 thumping of Tottenham at Etihad Stadium and continued that good league form with a 3-0 win over Swansea.

A narrow 3-2 away win over West Brom was followed by a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

City then beat title rivals Arsenal 6-3, Fulham 4-2 and Liverpool 2-1 before rounding off the month with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Half of the goals Suarez has scored this season came in December, with the Uruguayan striker netting twice against Cardiff, Tottenham and West Ham before putting four past Norwich.

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo, defender Vincent Kompany and midfielder Yaya Toure, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, were in the running for the December player award.

Manchester United's David Moyes, Chelsea's Jose Mourinho and Everton's Roberto Martinez were the other managers in contention for the December award.

Well deserved.

No chance of getting it this month if it's put to a vote though, as Moyes will run away with it.

Well played Manuel. He's not just been great for City, he's been great for the league and football in general. Shows you don't have to choose between entertainment and results!

Interesting isn't it, I've never heard it newsworthy that a manager gets on a short list, in fact I didn't know there was a short list, I thought they just chose, I mean it's usually pretty fucking obvious from 2/3 form sides

That is, until this month for some reason. United clearly trying to spin their way out of the shit with the fans, as I personally don't believe a short list exists - they were joint 4th on points in the month with Newcastle and played nobody tough. Liverpool had a point less and played city, spurs (5.0 away win) and Chelsea - which is a better outcome than the rags, making Moyes 6th best.

So if the 'shortlist' includes a third of the teams in the league, it's not much to fuckin crow about is it!

Short list my fucking arse
