If you had to choose one of the home games against chelsea to lose, which would it be?

The cup
The league

Maybe someone could add a poll, I can't do it on my phone?

The league ...

Win the Cup and only one other tough team will be left and you may never see them given 3 more games to go after this round ...

The league's 3 points are recoverable, they're not as great as they seem in the league and will drop points elsewhere ...

But given the proximity of the cup tie and Barca game I think question should have been between the Barca game and the Chelsea cup game ... the two games against them are pretty far apart and I think we'll spank them in both ...

5-2 in the league
8-3 in the cup.

Why? Because we can.

In answer to the question: Probably the league. If that meant a win in the cup, no bullshit about a replay. As previous poster mentioned, the league still has a long way to run and 3 points can be recovered whereas once you lose in cup thats it.

I happen to think we can and will win both games. Quite simply we are a better side than Chelsea for lots of reasons, not least the manager

I don't think we'll lose either but if it were a choice then I'd go for the cup. Win in the league gives us a great advantage and at this point in the season 4 points is going to be very difficult to pull back.

Losing in the cup would also loosen some of the pressure on us with regard to how many games we have to play. At this stage the League Cup should be a priority, then the league, then the CL, although we should be aiming to do our best against Barca as going through there would be a huge for us as a club.

Still, one game at a time, as they say, and let's see where we are come April, ready for that final push. You never know, we could still be in all 4 or completely fuck up and do an Arsenal.

Ok, ok,

None, we are better than them. The only reason i would give the home record in the league up and lose to Chelsea, only if we win the title in the end.

EXACTLY. Smack 'em in the league and they'll fall apart in the cup.

No thanks it is defeatist lol , MCFC isnt geared up to lose as the title of the thread is bizarely suggesting or have i and others read it wrong ?

We are stronger allround than Chelsea but will have to perform at our best in both competitions to beat them , no doubt Maureen will come out with allsorts of shit over the next few days but he knows we are in far better shape than his club both on and off the pitch. On another angle ......... IF WE WIN BOTH GAMES AGAINST CHELSKI THATS THERE SEASON PRETTY MUCH OVER ! ;-)

If we had to lose one it would be the cup. Looking at the last 7 or 8 seasons you can't win the league by losing more than six games. Infact it's usually just 4 or 5 losses. I'm sure Pellers will rest one or two v Chelsea in the cup prob Aguero and Yaya. I'm hoping we buy a centre half this week

This thread. Cause the thought of it is not for the current city, though realistic.

Would rather loose cup for progress against Barca, as these two matches are closer and the statement our club will be making by winning against Barca would be something. This can make me forget FA cup loss too.

Also League is important so wont mind loosing FA cup game.

Ask my arse.

Of course I think we can win both. In fact, we'll be favourites to win both.

Anyway, it's a tough one, because I think whoever wins the cup game will go on to win the cup, whereas the league can be recovered as some have mentioned...
Although giving up our unbeaten home league record gave the rags the platform last season and it might well do the same for chelsea...

Gun to head, I'd pick a loss in the league.

We're perfectly capable of winning both but IF I had to choose, it'd be the cup game. At this stage in the season, recovery time from defeats gets shorter and shorter, so losing to anyone, let alone our main title rivals, has to be avoided at all costs.

We're already guaranteed a Wembley final and have the chance to make an enormous statement if we can get past Barcelona, so if we're slipping up anywhere, let it be in the FA cup.

Ideally we should spank them (Chelsea) in the league 4-0 ... then really spank them in the cup 6-1 ... and then win the home leg against Barca 2-0 (no away goals for them) ...

But right now if someone gave me a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the league, any sort of cup game win (be it 1-0 or 3-2, as long as we are through and no away replay to come) ... and a 1-1 draw against Barca (yes, even an away goal for them), I'd probably take it as it would mean we stay alive in all three competitions ... Chelsea won't get any further ahead of us in the league, we'd still have progressed in FA Cup while knocking Chelsea out (and one of Arse/Liverpool going out this round as well) and in the CL we'll go to Nou Camp with all to play for still ... so yeah I'd probably take this scenario (which is more realistic anyway) ...

But fuck all that, the most important is Spurs away this Wednesday, right now someone give me 3 points in that pls.

I still have to pinch myself sometimes when I think of how good we really are.
