Win on Monday, win the league?

If we beat Chelsea on Monday - especially if we do it convincingly - I think we will go on to win the league. After a slow start we're now on an unbelievable run, and it must be both terrifying and deflating for the Arsenal and Chelsea players to know that we simply won't slip. A win against Chelsea will cement that fact and, in my opinion, be a huge blow for their confidence and a mighty scare for Arsenal.

It's a bit premature, but fuck it, I'm feeling confident today!

Premature Nooly. Have a cup of tea and a sit down, come back when you feel you can be sensible.

Arsenal, Liverpool and united still to play away.

The way I see it, to say we are probably in position to win the league, we need to get a 6 point gap between ourselves & Arse/Chelsea.

That wouldn't mean that they don't catch us at some stage, but it would mean that they have to be 6 points better than us over the rest of the season, so even if they do catch us during a difficult run, chances are we will pull away again when they slip up.

If we beat Chelsea, I would say they won't win the league.

So?

It's a good line (someone else's) but it doesn't apply to Liverpool and, even if it did, it doesn't entitle us to be complacent. We've lost 4 away from home - albeit early in the season - so we're not immune to slipping up.

We're clear favourites but Monday 3 February won't settle it. Especially not if we've got to balance the league with more FA cup and Big cup games.

I dunno why fans set themselves up for hubris.

Ha ha, normally do I. But I just felt so damn good after yesterday.

After the Sunderland debacle in November, we've been unstoppable. A draw away against the Saints are the only points we've dropped in the league, and we've been doing just as well in the cup competitions.

I'm not under the illusion that we will win everything from here on in. It's more that it must be very psychologically tough for the Arse and Rent boys players to see us crush opponents week in week out.

I still have the typical City syndrom from time to time.

Yeah, we are far the best team in the league, but it will be a long way to go. Scum looked they won it with 8 points in april and you all remember what we did then. We are on the right track, but it will be a hell of a battle.

Just imagine this, win with Chelsea, but lose at Scouse and Arse and we are fucked.

Honestly I get the optimism and feel it myself today. We look unstoppable right now and its the most amazing football I've ever seen. I knew we'd beat Spurs, and we have to be big favourites against Chelsea too. It won't be easy for sure, and Chelsea are more than capable of catching us on the counter and winning the game ... but I just get the feeling this team has 'levelled up' recently and we are just too far away. Even if we get unlucky against Chelsea, I don't see us dropping many more points now.

I'm feeling way over confident, and yeah, if we beat Chelsea I just can't see us throwing it away. Not because a lead of 6 points is massive, its not, its just we are playing so so well right now we look unlikely to even drop another 6 points. Obviously this season nobody will get close to our GD either.

If we beat Chelsea, I don't think it would be long before Arsenal drop off either. The pressure of knowing you need to win every single game must be immense.

To be honest I can see Palace getting something against Arsenal this weekend, and if we then beat Chelsea on Monday things will look very good indeed.

Sorry, I'm way overexcited too right now and hope I don't jinx it.

This season City remind me of my FM teams, that seem to struggle a little in the beginning with all my new players, but once they click and start winning every game by 3 or 4 goals you know the league is won. Even with 20+ games to go, you just know other teams won't be able to keep up with you. That's how this City side makes me feel right now.

We still have to play United, Liverpool and Arsenal away. 6 points is not enough of a gap for complacency.

No. Firstly don't underestimate the draw specialist on Monday.
Secondly even if we win there's still a long way to go and plenty of tough games, especially away to the likes of Palace and Hull and other teams fighting for their lives, not to mention Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and United.

Absolutely no room for complacency.

A win against Chelsea is just another three points and merely that, as there are so many more (difficult) games to play on all fronts and it's still far too early to be overly confident we're going to win the League.

In the same way, a failure to beat Chelsea, or even a defeat, isn't the end of the world, by virtue of all the games everyone still has to play.

One game at a time.

A win against them would be a big step, but you cant say for sure that we would win the league based on what happens monday evening.
Despite all the euphoria there are still some issues with this team mostly around defending.

we probably wont even be top of the league by the time we kick off on Monday so I would prefer to keep my trophy in my pants until its mathematically a done deal

I understand the caution, but looking at the remaining fixtures I really see Arse dropping off. I also think us reeling them in and passing them is a big blow to them.
The Minging Chavs are our main rivals I believe. If we go six clear of them I really think we will kick on and win the League by ten points. I am convinced we are gonna 'turn up' for the decisive fixtures. Yep sure injuries could creep up and fuck us, but with an even spread of luck I will be super confident of the title if we win on Monday.
Furthermore, if we beat them in the cup too, I think we will do a domestic treble.
To temper all that, i aint so confident about Europe.

A win on Monday night will benefit us for the long run as we'll probably drop some points until the end of the season. Still, dropping points on Monday isn't the end of the world, both Arsenal and Chelsea will also drop some points. A Monday win will increase the gap to six points between us and Chelsea. That will lead the master of the dark art to use some of his most dirty medieval tactics to knock us out of the FA Cup. I can't see us wiping Chelsea out in both fixtures and therefore I'll rather progress in the cup and drop points in the league. My conclusion is that a draw or even a loss on Monday won't stop us from winning the title, but it may halt our progression in the FA Cup. I hope I'm wrong and that we beat these lot with 6 something on both fixtures!

I don't get this thing about defending . I really don't, are other teams not allowed to attack us ? We defend really well in all areas of the park not just our own box.

Certainly this season we have seen the team be more offensively orientated when not in possession.Trying always to win the ball back at every opportunity.

If we win on Monday, we're 6 points ahead of the team that'll finish 2nd.

If we win on Monday... then win the rest of our games... we'll most likely be champions barring any unforeseen events.
